Not every event we cover is a sporting one. Today out team were out at Ballygarvan Agricultural Show providing care and of course being entertained by the local wildlife. It looks like a beautiful day for it. Thanks to these and all our volunteers out again this weekend. St John Ambulance Ireland

Blackpool Shopping Centre was the place to be today. Our volunteers were there to show who we are and what we do when we met our friends from National Ambulance Service (NAS) and Cork First Responder groups who were there demonstrating CPR. Thanks to all those who visited both groups today, remember any CPR beats no CPR. Learn first aid and CPR so some day you might make the difference.

Four of our volunteers out on duty today. Nothing unusual in that you might say but this group between them have over 200 years of volunteering with St John Ambulance Ireland between them. Every volunteer contributes to our work but these are some of the exceptional ones for whom the work of St John has been their lives. Thanks for all you give to all our volunteers from the newest to these seasoned campaigners, everyone has so much to contribute and do so without question of reward.

Today was a great day for the parish here in Cork as three of our volunteers graduated as paramedic interns from the National Ambulance Service College in Ballinasloe. Over the years countless volunteers have progressed to careers in the health service in all disciplines and we are immensely proud of these three following their dreams into pre hospital care. Well done Risteárd Tobin, Colin Desmond and Rachel Griffin as you start on this fantastic journey.

St John Ambulance Southern Region are providing medical cover at today's Youghal Bay 10k and Half marathon, with a paramedic ambulance, 2 x EMT ambulances and an EMT led Bicycle Emergency Response Team (BERT). Our own volunteer Corey is taking part in the half marathon. Good luck Corey!

Our volunteers have been out there all this bank holiday weekend providing cover at all sorts of events. From the Lord Mayor’s concert supporting Irish Cancer Society to international rugby in Virgin Media Park to cork Pride in the city centre. This is what we do.

As part of our ongoing training our volunteers regularly visit venues we provide cover at and practice onsite so we are better able to respond if required. Tonight’s session was in Turners Cross Stadium the home of Cork City FC. Our teams practiced scenarios around the grounds to get more acquainted with parts of the stadium and best access and egress. This all helps us to better help others.

A busy busy weekend for our volunteers this week. From Cork City FC in Turners Cross to Michael McIntyre at Live at the Marquee with road races, rugby and even an international fishing competition all in the mix as well. Congratulations and best wishes to our Glanmire Cadet Division Manager Ashling Doyle who got married this week. The celebrations continued with fellow volunteers from Cork and Dublin sharing her great day.

The three C’s on duty tonight at Cork City FC. Corky, Corey and our cadets. Cadets are our youth section and so many have gone on to work in all disciplines of healthcare over the years. They work alongside our adult volunteers at events learning skills and using what they have learned. They’re a great credit to our organisation, their families and most importantly to themselves. Well done all.
