Another great day for the little man, a trilogy fight with a boxer from St.Brigids Boxing club, who really made some great adjustments & they had a right good battle today. A big thank you to who was just home from her 4th pro fight which she won convincingly & did Jake’s corner.
Another big thank you to for his help in 2025 is a great place for anyone looking to get there child involved in boxing 🥊 in a very safe & enjoyable environment.

When do you come second in a race? But still win the 1500m indoor title?🫣🫣

In this race we had a guest runner Neil Speight from the UK, he went out like a rocket & stayed going…running a very impressive 3min 43Sec solo.

He would go on a few weeks later & just get beaten in a photo finish in a sprint to the line against the great Bernard Lagat ..💪💪.

All the Irish boys sat back & thought about the Gold medal 🥇, luckily I had enough in the tank to get it done in a fast last 200m. Great memories & sharing the track with such great athletes I do miss.
PS: I found an old hard Drive recently with lots of Running Stuff.. so could be a few more coming!!😂😂

⏺We can read all the latest research 🔬do countless amounts of courses..

⏺ But this type of exposure he is getting is priceless. Watching Senior players warm up, doing drills … handling situations on a pitch, unpredictable, chaotic it’s on the ground learning & he just loves it.

⏺ The best part is when we are driving home & he is asking countless questions on why did player X do this? Why did player X do that. That was some ball by player X.

⏺ So much enthusiasm & love for the sport already, I look forward to watching him develop at his own pace & hopefully be able to guide him a little on the way.

▶️ The reason I got into the game was this . Helping people overcome there ni**les to get back to what they love. 🏊‍♂️🏄🏋️🤼‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🏌🏾‍♂️🏹🏏⛳️🥅

▶️First session in we chatted for 45mins… yes 45mins about everything , not just his ni**le that had plagued him for many years.
Why such a long a chat? Well it’s the most important part of the of the treatment in the first session in my opinion.

▶️ It was very clear from the story that he had hit every strength marker known to man 👨… what wasn’t I going to give him as part of rehab…?? If you said strength… you have just won 🥇 bullies gold prize..😂😂

▶️ So what’s the missing piece of the puzzle then?? If this was 4 years ago I’d be scratching my head & have a look on my face to say … hmmm maybe we try some more strength…😩😩😩

▶️ Thankfully I went on & completed a mentorship with Dave O’Sullivan at Pro-Sport Accademy, this has taught me so much on how the body moves & what we need to have nice efficient movement.

▶️ So we chased Co-Ordination … timing … hitting the sweet spot, like when you strike a golf ball and it goes 300 yards but you didn’t feel you swung hard at all. Think about it , your foot hits the ground, what do we need to happen? We need all muscles working as a team, better Co-Ordination equals more efficient moving.
Don’t get me wrong, Is it important to be strong 💪?? Hell yes … but it’s only part of the puzzle.

▶️A big thank you to , I can remember our first online call & the fear I had of jumping on board, he did what he teaches on his mentorship, he met me where I was & we planned out the next logical steps & progressions for me as a therapist.

▶️ Tip for all therapists, sometimes the most complex looking cases are the easiest to solve & the easy ones turn out to be hardest, don’t be afraid to wrong, bin the current hypothesis, don’t get attached, move on to the next logical step .

▶️ The 800m race is one of the hardest races on the track in my opinion.

▶️ It hurts like no other, your on the brink of blowing up from early on in the race & when you feel the lactic it’s a game of trying to relax & not tighten up as it leads to slowing down.

▶️ In that picture I’m only 24 competing in the world military games in 2007. Training only a few months with very little aerobic conditioning. We travelled over as a 4x400m relay team & were allowed to pick an individual event, I honestly didn’t have a clue what I was at… I said maybe I will do the 800m. All our training was geared towards speed, fast reps on the track over varying distances. Very much sprint training. I managed to make the semi final and running a 1min 53 sec 800m and just missing the final by 1 spot.

▶️ With no coach at this point I was convinced I was a sprinter…😂😂😂 sure I had just ran a huge PB of sprint type training only running a few months.

▶️ When I arrived back after this competition I had made my mind up that running was something I wanted to pursue & needed a coach, that is when I learned I definitely wasn’t a sprinter and was introduced to training by heart rate.

▶️ Training of heart rate is a humbling experience, but if you drop the ego & give it a few months, you certainly see the gains & carry over.

▶️ Next post I will be covering my personal experience with my first lactic test.. (disaster..🙈🙈) what I got from it & more importantly how I used it in my training .
