Your body has no problem with saying ’no’

I know YOU might have a problem with saying ‘no’ to others but you can be sure your body will not hesitate to say ’no’ to you.

We often go on giving, giving and giving without asking for anything in return, as if we believed our body had some kind of endless supply of energy and resources.

Your body is a miracle. It can adjust and function surprisingly well even in the most adverse and overstretching circumstances — 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭.

It needs time and care to be able to rejuvenate and replenish. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐟 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐳𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞...

If you push it to stay in the surviving mode for a long while, it will not stay silent.

➡️ some heaviness, agitation, restlessness
➡️ feeling distracted and unable to focus
➡️ hypervigilance, anxiety, feeling on edge
➡️ all sorts of recurrent aches and pains.

But ignore it and you can be sure 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐫.

It is surprising how often 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐭he connection between our:

-exhaustion and burnout
-constant emotional overwhelm,
-lack of time to rest and wind down,

and our physical ailments and diseases (even in spite of plenty of scientific research in the area!)

You might pretend not to see all that (at least for a period of time...)

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐲. 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲, 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝.

And you don't have to!

Let’s talk about things no one talks about.

A long time ago, I went to an astrologer, who drew my birth chart and told me a bunch of intriguing things about planets that influenced my life story.

But what I remembered most was swimming which sounded quite weird to me at the time.

He told me that I had a gift to bring into light and hold space for things
that for most people feel too dark, too painful, too embarrassing to talk about.

I had no idea what to do with that information then.

But I do know now :)

Every day I hear from my clients that they feel so safe with me that they can open their hearts and touch places they’ve never told anyone about (often, not even their previous therapists).

I’ve spent years learning how to be a good psychotherapist. And continue learning.

But this gift is not learned, acquired, or even practiced. It does not require any effort on my part.

It is just who I am. And I love the magic that it does.

𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬, 𝐰𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬.

So many of you got back to me after my last week's email about busyness and stress (thank you!!! I love hearing back from you :)

Do you often feel unheard or misunderstood? Invisible maybe?

Wouldn't it be wonderful to find someone who truly "gets" you?

We all yearn for that deep connection and understanding.

But expressing yourself openly and honestly can feel risky. Being vulnerable enough to show up in your relationships in that way feels even riskier.
