Bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers, and recognising the signs early can make a real difference to outcomes. The most common symptom is blood in your p*e, even if it only happens once or is not painful, and it should always be checked.

Other symptoms to look out for include:
β€’ Pain, burning or stinging when passing urine πŸ’§βš οΈ
β€’ Needing to p*e more often or urgently 🚽⏱️
β€’ Repeated urinary infections πŸ”πŸ©Ί
β€’ Pain in the lower tummy or back πŸ€•βœ¨
β€’ Feeling very tired or losing weight without trying πŸ’™πŸ“‰

These symptoms are often caused by other conditions, but it’s important not to ignore them. Getting checked early can lead to earlier diagnosis and more effective treatment.

Whether you’re heading out for a walk, enjoying the garden or going on holiday, protecting your skin is essential πŸ’›

βœ”οΈ Choose a sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and at least 4-star UVA protection to help protect against harmful UV rays
βœ”οΈ Apply it generously and evenly – most people don’t use enough
βœ”οΈ Put it on 30 minutes before going outside and reapply regularly, especially after swimming or sweating
βœ”οΈ Don’t forget areas like your ears, neck, and face

⚠️ Remember: sunscreen alone isn’t enough
🧒 Wear a hat and sunglasses
🌳 Spend time in the shade (especially 11am–3pm)
πŸ‘• Cover up where you can

Even on cloudy days, UV rays can still damage your skin πŸŒ₯️

World Hypertension Day is on Sunday the 17th of May.

High blood pressure is very common, especially in older adults. There are usually no symptoms, so you may not realise you have it.

Things that increase your chances of having high blood pressure include:

- your age – you're more likely to get high blood pressure as you get older
- having close relatives with high blood pressure
- having an unhealthy diet – especially a diet that's high in salt
- being overweight
- drinking too much alcohol - smoking
- feeling stressed over a long period

If you are aged over 40 it is recommended that you get your blood pressure checked every 5 years. If you have not had this checked please contact the practice to be booked into our treatment room.

Taking action for mental health can make a real difference, whether it’s for yourself, for someone else, or for all of us. Raising awareness is important, but meaningful change happens when we turn that awareness into everyday actions.

Simple ways to take action include:
β€’ Checking in with yourself and taking time to rest and recharge πŸ’™πŸŒΏ
β€’ Reaching out to someone who might need support 🀝✨
β€’ Talking openly about mental health to reduce stigma πŸ—£οΈπŸ’¬
β€’ Getting involved in your community or supporting others πŸŒπŸ’›

Small actions can have a big impact on wellbeing, helping create a more supportive and understanding environment for everyone. πŸ’™βœ¨
