Funding provided by the Department of Health is how we afford to employ Doctors, Nurses, Receptionists and other Health Care professionals. Without adequate funding we can not provide the level of service required to meet the ever growing demand, a demand that is made worse by huge waiting lists in Secondary Care (which mean more patients need to keep coming back to their GP because Secondary Care has not seen them to manage or resolve their condition).

Currently GPs in Northern Ireland see approximately 200,000 patients a week- but only receive 5.4% of the whole health budget. We need your help to ask the Health Minister to provide more funding to General Practice so that we can train and hire more staff to deliver the services you require, and make it easier for you to get an appointment when you need it.

Please consider supporting us by contacting the Minister of Health Mike Nesbitt at:

General practice in Northern Ireland is in crisis. GPs have voted to begin collective action - we need an improved offer from the government that increases our core funding to avert a total crisis

Over 18,200 outpatient appointments were wasted in the Western Trust last year due to patients/clients not turning up for their appointment. This is lost clinical capacity and it impacts on the efficiency and productivity of the Western Trust’s Outpatient’s Service. Each missed appointment costs the Trust £220 which equates to £4 million lost to our health and social care budget.

To help reduce non-attendance, the Trust has in place a system for booking outpatient appointments, where patients are given a choice of dates and times and they can select one that best suits them. Patients attending outpatient appointments across the Western Trust area receive a SMS text to their mobile phone or an automated voicecall to their landline, reminding them of their outpatient appointment three days prior to their appointment. The Trust also offer the ConnectWest App which allows for online messaging which includes out of hours communication with the booking team.

Please be aware that the car park located before the entrance to the surgery is a private car park and not for patient use.

Recently, we have had patients park in this area and become blocked in, causing delays and inconvenience.

We kindly ask all patients not to park in this private area. The surgery cannot take responsibility for vehicles that are blocked or unable to leave.
