Funding provided by the Department of Health is how we afford to employ Doctors, Nurses, Receptionists and other Health Care professionals. Without adequate funding we can not provide the level of service required to meet the ever growing demand, a demand that is made worse by huge waiting lists in Secondary Care (which mean more patients need to keep coming back to their GP because Secondary Care has not seen them to manage or resolve their condition).
Currently GPs in Northern Ireland see approximately 200,000 patients a week- but only receive 5.4% of the whole health budget. We need your help to ask the Health Minister to provide more funding to General Practice so that we can train and hire more staff to deliver the services you require, and make it easier for you to get an appointment when you need it.
