Na Préachán. All my life generations of Crows and Corvids have witnessed how as humans my family and I live on this one and precious Earth that we all share. They are bright and intelligent birds.
In folklore they are related to the Morrigan as shapeshifters.
They watch us humans and can identify human friends or foe.
Recently a large mature Holly tree was cut down the road from me. I loved it, sweet protective Holly. I used to pass it and say hello.
The Buzzard used to perch on it watching us. A pair of adorable Wood pigeons used to hang there like love birds cooing.
Other trees around it have also been cut mercilessly. Homes, perching spots to the many birds, thousands of other creatures. Creatures that live in habitats in hedgerows acting as biodiversity corridors that maintain the delicate balance in nature .
Where do they go now ? The corridors are getting smaller. Am sitting in Cork airport about to fly the Netherlands where I am teaching / giving workshops.
I feel sad as on my way here so many fields and trees have been felled. Homes to many sentient beings of nature . Songbirds that bring so much beauty to our lives . Small creatures that create fertility in the soil. The birds, creatures, insects & the bees, the composters, fertility makers share our World.
Each and every tree is worth saving as they give so much.
Each and every tree is home to generations of sentient beings just like us.
