It’s important when the light seals are replaced to also replace the internal one at the back of the lens board. As you can see the old foam has degraded over time, becoming hard in places and sticky in others the hard bits tend to flake off with vibration and get into the lens and shutter. The sticky stuff usually gunks up the red flag mechanism. This work is covered when I service a camera

People send me cameras for many reasons obviously mostly because they want them fixing but sometimes a camera arrives that has a back story usually it’s been in the family for many years or was passed onto them when someone died. This camera was a family camera and had seen better days, it had been dropped in saltwater and was badly corrroded, I salvaged as much of the original camera as possible and using donor parts I put it back together here are the before and after photos

I have mentioned the possibility that if you use a screw in shutter release it can out a strain on the Trips red flag mechanism and also bend the meter needle. This camera was in for repair the shutter leaves had stuck for various reasons the resulting pressure applied whilst taking a picture resulted in this damage
