🌅✨ Couldn't Sleep... So I Sat with the Birds 🕊️📖
Last night, sleep wouldn't come 😔

My mind was tangled in thoughts 🧠💭

I tossed and turned — but in the process of fighting wakefulness and demanding sleep, I fed those dragons 🐉… and peace was not mine to be had.

As the hours passed, I got fed up of the fight — and at sunrise 🌅, I grabbed my flask ☕ and my inspirational book 📚, and headed to the sea 🌊

There was no sunrise to see 🌥️ — but the birds were wide awake 🐦🎶

With no traffic, their morning concert was even more magical 🎵💛

I listened, I read, I reflected.
I asked for guidance 🙏✨

And somewhere in that quiet, I found a little peace 🌿🕊️

I feel grateful I made this choice. It was a blessing to be comforted and inspired by the sunrise community 🌅💞

Whatever is going on, we always have choice.

Ever wake up feeling a bit glumpy—low on energy, tired inside?
That was me this morning.

Instead of pushing through, I -

Lowered my bar for the day

Offered myself kindness and reminded myself this will pass

Took slow, deep breaths (hand on heart, hand on belly)

Moved gently with a YouTube somatic video

Meditated for 10 minutes

Did some EFT tapping to clear my thoughts

Prayed and listened for guidance

Asked: What’s next? and felt drawn to go for a walk

I don’t have all the answers yet—but I feel calmer, clearer, and so much better than if I’d carried on ruminating and scrolling. I’m glad I chose to pause, reconnect with myself, and use simple tools to calm my system.

Anxiety doesn’t always shout — sometimes it just quietly builds.

A part of us starts to feel anxious, but for many of us, we keep going. We push through, carry on, and try to ignore the part of us that’s struggling. But over time, this can lead to overwhelm, a ruminating noisy mind, or we might just feel completely floored, unable to deal with our day-to-day life

What if we did something different?

What if we paused when we noticed ourselves feeling unsettled?

Just a few moments to turn inward. To breathe. To listen. To tap. To pray. To practise whatever tools we know that can help bring us back to a calm state. To tend to that anxious part of us with compassion — and help it feel safe again.

I forget to do this myself. I’m still learning — still catching myself when I go off track. I don’t always feel peaceful, but I am learning how to meet those unsettled places with care. And I’ve learned how to guide others through this too.

The more we do this, the more we learn to befriend our anxiety instead of fighting it. We build trust with ourselves and strengthen our ability to return to calm.

🌿 Calling all Donegal friends! 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️
Our lovely Community Meditation Group is on the lookout for a new venue in Donegal town for our Monday evening meditations, from 7:15pm to 9:00pm each week.
🕊️ We’ve been grateful to use the Solace Centre up until the end of July — it’s been a beautiful, peaceful space to gather and meditate together. As it’s no longer available after that, we’re now looking for a new home.

✨ We’re looking for a quiet, accessible venue that can comfortably fit a circle of 25 chairs.

☕ It would be great to have access to a small kitchen or somewhere we can make a cup of tea after the session.

💚 We’re a not-for-profit group, run entirely by volunteers, with a team of rotating meditation leaders from the local community. We have a maximum weekly budget of €30 to contribute toward room hire.

🧘 This is a secular community group, open to people of all backgrounds, faiths, or none. Whether you're brand new to meditation or have years of experience, you're very welcome. 🌈💛

💬 Many who’ve attended say that meditating in a group meets their needs for connection, belonging, and helps support and deepen their individual practice. There’s a quiet strength in coming together — even in stillness.

🌟 If you run or know of a space, hosting us could be a lovely way to support community wellbeing, connection, and calm in the heart of Donegal. It’s a peaceful, respectful group that brings good energy to any space.

🧘 Over the past 10 weeks, we’ve had around 14 people attending most weeks, with one week reaching up to 28 attendees. It’s a warm, welcoming space.

💖 Valentine’s Day—the day of love. 💖

But what does love really look like? 🤔

I know people love me, but do I truly feel loved? 💕 I love my son, but does he consistently feel loved? I wish I could confidently say yes, but in reality, there have likely been too many moments where he didn’t feel that love. 😔

It all comes back to how I show love to myself. 🫶 I’m learning to be more loving and forgiving, but it’s been a long journey. When I was a younger parent, raising my son alone (and let’s be honest—parenting alone is a monumental task! 😅), I had big aspirations of being the perfect, loving parent. I had so many rules—both spoken and unspoken—that dictated how I should parent. 📝

Over time, I put so much pressure on myself to be perfect that I ended up resenting myself, even despising myself for not being the parent I thought I should be. 😞

As Tara Brach wisely said, “The bigger the gap between reality and where you think you should be, the more the suffering.” 💔

And oh, how big that gap felt. 😓

So today, on this day of love, I ask you: how much love can you find within yourself? 🫶💗

Not just the love for the parts of you that meet your expectations, but what about the parts that make mistakes, mess up, or cause suffering—both to yourself and others? 😓💔

Can you love those parts? 💖

Can you show them compassion and help them find better ways of being that cause less pain? ✨

In The Art of Loving, Erich Fromm explores how falling in love is easy, but truly learning to love is the real challenge. Love isn’t just about the honeymoon phase or the fantasy of romance; it’s about embracing the whole person—warts and all. It’s about understanding, growing, and choosing love, even when it’s not easy. 💫 💫

Loving isn’t always easy, but if we consistently try and choose love—or at the very least, if we can step back and resist the urge to interact in a way that is going to escalate the suffering and hurt—then we are, in our own way, contributing to more peace in the

Love, in all its forms, is never static. It’s not about arriving at some final destination. It’s a relationship—a journey of connection, growth, and change. 🌱💞 Just as we evolve, so too does our capacity to love in different ways.

So on this day of Love, I send you wishes for all the love you can find—may it flow freely in all its forms and grow abundantly in your life. 💖✨

I know I’m of a certain age…
There’s something special about watching clothes blowing on the line 🌬️👚, slipping into a cosy bed 🛏️, or sitting in the car at the beach having a cuppa with my ageing mum.🌊🚗

I find myself content with the simple things—
A freshly polished window ✨, being at home 🏡, the warmth of dry folded laundry 🧺, the scent of a candle 🕯️, and the heat of the fire 🔥.

Contentment is often in the everyday moments. 💛

What I can do for you....

I am a Life Coach based in Donegal and offer a space where clients can explore their life, identify the changes they want to make to make their life more happy and fulfilling, clarity goals, and work towards creating the life that they want. I have a vast background in training and personal experience that I bring to the sessions, according to the needs of the client. I use EFT, a tapping technique in my coaching sessions. It is a powerful way to shift thoughts and behaviors that may be holding you back. It can really go to the core of issues causing clients stress. At the core of my work is empathy and compassion, and over a series of sessions, I want my clients to leave feeling happier and more relaxed in themselves, empowered to go out into the world, reach their potential and be their best self. I am also available for personal development workshops and courses.
