The Acknowledgement of the late Robert Alexander (Alex) Watson

The family of the late Robert Alexander (Alex) Watson, Convoy, would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who reached out to celebrate the life of Eckie, and to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who sympathised with us at his passing.

Thank you for all the messages, condolence cards, and phone calls, for the kind words and compassion, for the tea and buns, and the tales and memories shared with us of this remarkable man, a wonderful Dad, Grandad, brother and friend.

Thank you to all the staff in Medical 6 in Letterkenny University Hospital, especially to the lovely Louise, for caring for Dad through his illness and for helping us all cope with his diagnosis.

To the incredible palliative nurse in the Community, another lovely Louise; it was great to see you coming each day with a smile on your face, a kind word and a pair of shoes for Dad to appraise. There are no words to express how happy Dad was being home, and your support helped us keep him comfortable, safe and where he wanted to be most. Thank you so much.

To Tony and the Team in Slevin's Pharmacy, Lifford; Dad went to you for his meds for a reason, and that reason became very apparent when we took over that side of things, so thanks a million for keeping us right.

To the staff from Irish Home Care; thank you for everything you did each day to help keep Dad comfortable and at home in front of the fire. We couldn't have done it without you girls, and your kindness will never be forgotten.

A very special thank you to the staff in the Donegal Hospice; angels, every single one of you, from the cook to the cleaner, to the nurses, Doctors, physio and to everyone who cared for and supported Dad, and us, in his final days. Thank you for allowing us to have that precious time with him, and for showing such quiet dignity and compassion at the end.

To the Rev. Sean McClafferty who got to know Dad over the last few years, and who called to see him on a regular basis when ill in hospital and hospice. Your company and prayers were a great comfort to us all, and thank you for giving him a wonderful send off.

Finally to Caroline and Michael from Kelly's Funeral Directors; there's no one else Eckie would have trusted to do the job right. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for helping us to ensure Dad had the send off he wanted, he had all the time in the world for both of you, and we are so grateful that you were there for us to lean on for support. Nothing was too much trouble, and the care and professionalism was first class. Thank you.
