Last week, our SLT team delivered a sensory story session to support AAC—using the fun and familiar world of Peppa Pig!

🚌 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗭𝗼𝗼
With the Bing B**g Song, party blowers & roaring lion masks—setting the scene for fun & engagement!

🐢 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆
Children “fed” hidden turtles dandelion leaves 🌿—great for requesting and commenting with AAC.

🐧 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆
Frozen glittery cubes revealed penguins inside ❄️—perfect for exploration & talking about feelings.

🌸 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 & 𝗦𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀
Real + artificial flowers, scents 🍊💜🌼 & fluttering butterflies 🦋 encouraged rich descriptive language.

Each moment offered opportunities to model AAC, support regulation, and build shared joy. 🌟

One Saturday a month, starting from September, we will continue our neurodiversity-affirming group for autistic boys.
On those days, we will learn about differences in communication 🗣, talk about gaming 🎮, share a pizza 🍕, and most importantly, have fun together!🏀

We had such a great time at our new group, Connect Youth on Saturday 21st of June.

At this neurodiversity-affirming group for autistic boys we learnt about differences in communication 🗣, chatted about a shared love of gaming 🎮, discovered Monster Madness 👹, scored some baskets 🏀 and devoured a pizza 🍕!

We go again this Saturday at Douglas Community Centre!

Come along to our 𝙎𝙐𝙋𝙀𝙍 𝙎𝙋𝙀𝙀𝘾𝙃 𝙎𝙊𝙐𝙉𝘿𝙎 groups for children aged 𝟱 - 𝟴 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀. Children can bring along a favourite superhero 🦹 (or other toy) to join in the fun! Children attend 4 sessions in total.

Tuesdays in July and August
🕒 1.45pm – 2.45pm
📍 Tús Nua, Douglas, Cork

Led by a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, this programme includes a screening session + 3 therapy sessions. Groups will be formed based on individual needs.

Spooky Stories Time 📚👻
Nothing beats a spooky story session! Reading Halloween stories builds literacy, supports understanding of sequencing, and encourages answering ‘what happens next?’ questions. Perfect for basic concepts and answering Blanks Levels 1-4 questions.
