Huge announcement made by Dublin Cemeteries Trust.

Suspension of horse-drawn funerals in cemeteries operated by Dublin Cemeteries Trust
26 September 2025
Following a serious incident at one of our cemeteries last week involving a horse-drawn carriage, Dublin Cemeteries Trust has suspended the use of horse drawn carriages across our Cemeteries, so we can consider what measures, if any, can be put in place to reduce the risk of a similar incident occurring again.

Dublin Cemeteries Trust have been providing funeral services since 1828 and are aware of the long tradition of horse drawn carriages for funerals.

This measure is being introduced to safeguard families, staff, and the public, while ensuring that services can continue to take place respectfully, and to ensure the safety of all visitors to our cemeteries.

We kindly ask that you ensure all families are informed of this when making funeral arrangements with you. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

We understand these messages may be upsetting, especially given the sensitive nature of our content. We’ve raised this issue with Facebook and hope they will offer better controls for pages like ours in the future.

In the meantime, here are a few steps you can take to reduce or hide these prompts on your own account, if you wish to do so:

🔧 How to Hide AI Prompts on Facebook

1. Mute Meta AI:

Tap the blue triangle icon or AI prompt.
Tap the “i” icon in the corner.
