Do you suffer from muscle cramps?

Usually this is a sign of dehydration , so if water isn't fixing the issue , your body is lacking in certain vitamins and minerals.

Here are a few foods to pack into your diet if you are struggling:

1. Sweet potato πŸ₯”. As well as being tasty and a handy way to get carbs in, it's full of calcium and magnesium which helps relax the muscles when fatigued.

2. Eat more greens. Broccoli πŸ₯¦ spinach and asparagus are great. Adding these instead of other veggies will add more calcium and magnesium also. The leader the better!

3. Orange juice / oranges/ bananas. Full of potassium and also contribute to heart health

4. Watermelon πŸ‰. So juicy and thirsty quenching is perfect for rehydration of the muscles.

5. Avocado πŸ₯‘ is full of potassium. Potassium is an essential mineral and electrolyte that not only helps with spasms but regulates fluid and is also great for reducing blood pressure.

6. Tomatoes πŸ…. Again packed with potassium. Slide into your salad or sandwich for extra taste.

7. Milk. Full of protein, calcium which helps with muscle tissue repair.

8. Nuts & seeds . Another great source of magnesium which helps relax the muscles and the brain.

7 Tips for better gut health:

Your gut health plays a crucial role in digestion, immune function, and even mental well-being. A balanced gut microbiome can improve overall health and energy levels. Here are six tips to support a healthier gut:

1. Eat More Fibre-Rich Foods
Fibre acts as food for your gut bacteria, promoting their growth and diversity. Include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, legumes, and nuts in your diet for a well-rounded fibre intake.

2. Incorporate Fermented Foods
Fermented foods such as yoghurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, kefir, and miso contain probiotics that introduce beneficial bacteria into your gut, improving digestion and gut flora balance.

3. Stay Hydrated
Water is essential for digestion and helps maintain the mucosal lining of your intestines. Aim to drink at least 2 litres of water daily to support gut function and overall hydration.

4. Manage Stress

Social media detoxing!

This is my 1st post of 2024 and what a beautiful pic of Bettystown Beach this is!!!

January was a tough month with a major struggle with disc issues but one thing I enjoyed was being away from social media.

What did I learn?

Don't live your life on social media. It's , for the most part - fake and toxic. Plus people generally don't give a s**t what you post!!

In my industry its what I call a necessary evil.

People will only show your their good side and their lovely family pics ( me included), they don't tell you as much about reality..... and that is probably why people come here.

I found I was wasting quality time at home with the wife and kids. Instead of scrolling we were chatting and laughing πŸ˜ƒ.
...instead of scrolling I was talking to my parents and catching up. This becomes priceless as they get older.

So being off line. Did it affect my business? Not one bit. In fact I was busier than ever!

So why don't you try a mini detox . Start with leaving your phone downstairs when you go to bed or putting it out of reach.
Sleep will be better. Mood will be better and you will be creating a healthier habit, especially from a mental point of view.

As a father, I'm a big believer in your kids seeing you exercise / train on a regular basis.πŸ‹

This instills habits into your kids from a young age and shows them the importance of staying fit and healthy while having fun!πŸ™†β€β™‚οΈ

If you sit at home and eat s**t all day then chances are your kids will do the same when they get older πŸ€”

At the end of the day you are their role model. They mimic what you do from early childhood so why not give them healthy and positive habits to grow with in life.

Doesn't matter what that is. My kids play football, gaelic, dance , do yoga, but also just like running around or getting out for beach walks with the πŸ•.

Be a positive and healthy role model for your kids. You don't have that much time with them. They grow up too quick so enjoy that time with them as much as possible.
