Affinities – Artist Talk
Join us on Friday, 21st November (3.30-5 pm) for a playful and thought-provoking afternoon exploring the humanity of creativity - from personal process to collective expression and everything that lives in the space between.
This conversation brings together exhibiting artists Dominique Serfontaine () and Dermot Flynn () with our own Máirín O’Grady and Dave Smith of The Space Between for an open, curious exchange on what it means to create, connect, and find inspiration to fuel the trip…
Expect wine, tea, tiny cakes & big ideas as we round off the week in good company - surrounded by the work and wonder of the Affinities exhibition.
About the artists:
Dominique Serfontaine is an illustrator and storyteller whose work celebrates the quiet magic of animals and nature, often drawing on Irish landscapes and a gentle sense of nostalgia. She creates narrative-driven illustrations for picture books, editorial projects and commercial commissions - perfect for young readers and all who find comfort in animal protagonists.
Dermot Flynn is an artist and illustrator whose clients include Apple, Penguin, Adidas, and The New Yorker. After twenty years in London, his work now turns toward Ireland’s own light and darkness - the humour, folklore, and humanity woven through everyday life. When not drawing or painting, he’s usually found beside the sea, working up the courage for a cold-water dip.
