Victim of Carlow Gardai, again. His Dad’s photos of the injuries he sustained 10 years ago are still in my possession! Shame on the 5 Gardai who kicked this young man repeatedly in the head even though he was on the ground and never retaliated! Shame on us all, if we don’t demand Justice!

Today I am writing to the Minister for Health, the CEO of the HSE, and the National Clinical Director for Adult ADHD, Dr Margo Wrigley, who refused to meet with me a couple of months ago, even just for 10 minutes, to allow me to present our Training Course in Recognition, Assessment, Diagnosis and Treatment of Adult ADHD. Our Course goes well beyond the purchased course from UKAAN. I know because I have been a member of UKAAN for the past decade. Their Course in clinical practice by a non-Specialist would, like the National Clinical Program (Model of Care) Treatment Guidelines fail to treat successfully at least 40% of adult patients, whose stabilisation dose can be.as low as Concerta 18mg and if you follow their increase increments of 18mg, another 30% will overshoot their correct dose.
I am the only Neurodevelopmental Specialist recognised as such by the High Court and as per the UK Ministry of Health, they have no-one with my level of EXPERTISE in the Medical treatment of complex cases of ADHD/ASD where other conditions are also present. Our Staff deal with these unfortunate people everyday, and I can train anyone who is medically-or Advanced Nurse Prescriber-qualified to treat ANY person who has been labelled as Borderline PD, or EUPD, both stigmatising in the extreme. These labelled People who are considered to be “untreatable” suddenly become the most Treatable people attending clinics only once a year, instead of weekly. With some supportive Psychology, they Recover! Recovery is Achievable! But not if you’re stuck in 1996, and you missed all the incredible achievements of Those Who Know That ADHD Persists into adulthood, but presents in a myriad of Guises, WHICH IAAN.ie can teach to 10,000 Mental Health workers over a 30-month period, with NO COST TO THE EXCHEQUER OR THE HSE. Please feel free to text Dr Wrigley at Margo.wrigley@hse.ie and ask her why she refuses to meet the most experienced Consultant Psychiatrist in Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry?

The Irish Adult ADHD Network is due to launch its website this week. It will announce its response to the latest news and concerns about the provision, or lack thereof State services for the hundreds of thousands of people who are experiencing ADHD symptoms and who are currently experiencing severe mental health problems as a result of the absence of proper treatment. But, the Network of Mental Health Professionals involved with the IAAN are committed to the provision of the highest level of training to those who are best equipped to assist in a truly meaningful manner those who are seeking help and treatment for their ADHD symptoms and other associated problems. The IAAN is a group which includes many people from different Disciplines, and has the capacity to train 10,000 frontline workers to Recognise, Assess, Diagnose and Treat all patients with ADHD, regardless of their presentation. It’s time to engage with ADHD and its other linked disorders, and to learn how to treat them successfully, as they deserve. I’m delighted and excited to be part of this amazing Initiative, innovating and creating a whole new level of awareness and learning about the most common mental health conditions in our community. Please support us in our mission. We are aiming to provide the solution to the crisis that has been allowed to occur through simple inertia. With the minimum of support from the Medical establishment and the public sector services, and at no extra cost to the taxpayer, we are ready to provide the best training possible to ensure that ADHD, which is the most common, but also the most treatable Psychiatric Disorder in society today, finally gets the proper recognition and treatment. This opportunity will allow tremendous change of a positive development for all. We just want the opportunity to bring our knowledge and expertise to those who are best placed to engage with our neurodiverse community in the best possible manner. We appreciate your support in our efforts.

The Irish Adult ADHD Network is launching a Training Programme to meet the needs of the National Clinical Programme for Adult ADHD as outlined in the NACP Guidelines. The Training Programme is going to run on a 3-year cycle of 2-day training courses, Day 1 being Assessment & Diagnosis and Day 2 being aimed at Treatment options, to include a half day on Pharmacological Treatments and the other half on Behavioural, Cognitive and Coaching interventions. The IAAN is a registered Training Company in both Dublin and Belfast and the CEO is Ireland's first High Court-recognised Expert in Neurodevelopmental Conditions, or "Neurodevelopmental Specialist'' as the High Court judge so clearly put it in addressing the parties in a recent Child-in-Care hearing where he complimented Dr Ó Domhnaill "for his exceptional work in bringing this child from the verge of being transferred to a residential unit in England at just 7 years of age, to a position of mental and behavioural stability which allowed his return to a former foster placement which had broken down as a result of the ASD/ADHD Complex which Dr Ó Domhnaill had identified and successfully treated within a matter of weeks of commencing treatment. Dr Seán Ó Domhnaill was the first Irish Consultant to provide a full-time clinical service for Adult ADHD in Ireland over a decade ago and has used his expertise in the area of AADHD/ASD and Addiction, Anxiety Disorders, etc..to allow hundreds of prison diversions to therapeutic care on a pro bono basis since 20 years ago. His colleagues in IAAN are all well-versed in the area of ADHD and ASD across the life-span and IQ-range and include Service Users and family members, as well as experts in a variety of related fields, a true MDT Advisory Board that has the Sufferer at the heart of the Company. It is anticipated that the Company will become a Charitable Trust, once it has been fully established in its primary role of teaching Mental Health Professionals to recognise, assess and diagnose Adult ADHD as it presents to Mental Health Services in a variety of guises from Mixed Anxiety and Depression to the apparently ubiquitous EUPD. Go n-eirí an t-ádh leo, IAAN.
