🌟👣 Royal Homecare Steptember 2025 Step Challenge – Final Results! 👣🌟

What an incredible month it has been!

Our Steptember 2025 Step Challenge brought out the best in everyone, and we are thrilled to announce the closing step counts of our top three champions:

🥇 Karin – 802,881 steps!
🥈 Daniel – 762,592 steps
🥉 Sean – 500,155 steps

👏👏👏 Let’s give a huge round of applause to each of them for their amazing dedication, consistency, and energy throughout the month.
💛 A very special shoutout goes to Karin — not only did she take the crown for the third year in a row, but her extraordinary 802,881 steps is a true testament to her commitment and determination. That’s the equivalent of walking hundreds of kilometers in just one month! Absolutely inspiring. 🌟

To everyone who participated — whether you hit your personal goals or supported your teammates and clients along the way…your steps have made a difference.

Each stride represents a move towards healthier living, stronger wellbeing, and the spirit of community that Royal Homecare is so proud to celebrate.

Here’s to continuing the momentum beyond September — let’s keep stepping forward together! 🚶‍♀️🚶🚶‍♂️

Our new blog is OUT NOW!🧠

Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) Awareness

When Bruce Willis’s family shared his FTD diagnosis, it opened the world’s eyes to a lesser-known form of dementia. Unlike Alzheimer’s, FTD often begins with changes in behaviour, language, or emotions, and it can affect people as young as their 40s and 50s.

Here in Ireland, over 64,000 people are living with dementia, with around 4,000 diagnosed before the age of 65. For families, the journey can be overwhelming, but support and compassion make all the difference.

At Royal Homecare, we believe dementia care is about more than assistance - it’s about dignity, connection, and love.

Hiring the right candidate starts with the right interview.

At Royal Homecare, we know that choosing someone to care for your loved one(s) is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make. The interview is your chance to get to know the candidate — but it’s also about making them feel comfortable and respected. 🌟

Here are some helpful Do’s and Don’ts to guide you through the process:

✅ Do’s

Be clear about the role, hours, and specific duties. This helps avoid any surprises later.

Ask about relevant experience and skills to understand their strengths and background.

Discuss pay and expectations openly — transparency builds trust.

Keep the interview professional, but also welcoming, so candidates feel valued.

❌ Don’ts

Don’t ask about age, religion, or family status — these are private and unrelated.

Don’t ask personal questions that don’t connect to the role.

Don’t make assumptions based on gender, background, or appearance.

Don’t leave candidates waiting without feedback — even a short update shows respect.

✨ Remember: A positive interview sets the tone for a strong, supportive relationship with your caregiver. Treat the process as a partnership — you’re both working towards the same goal: compassionate care for your loved ones.
