Week 2 of Parent & Baby Yoga at

Itโ€™s really exciting to have a new class on the schedule especially as I get to meet all the gorgeous little ones โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿผ

At we love babies so all our Pre & Postnatal classes are child friendly!

My yoga classes are all about moving on the mat with baby. Lots of core work, shoulder releases, hamstring stretches, glute strengthening poses and all the rest!

This class is all about going with the flow so itโ€™s very relaxed but Iโ€™ll always try and make it as enjoyable as possible for both you and baby โ˜บ๏ธ

Classes are on Wednesdays & Fridays @ 10.45am in FFS Gyms Dundrum.

Did you know that strength, balance & stability are a big part of yoga ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Not only are we moving our body in all planes of motion on our mat but weโ€™re also building strength, albeit in a different way to S&C.

Now Iโ€™m not expecting anyone to balance in a headstand but this pose is highlighting shoulder strength and stability๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป just one of the many benefits for incorporating yoga into your weekly routine.

The yoga I teach is functional movement incorporating mobility exercises and yoga poses which flows together into a dynamic sequence๐Ÿ”ฅ

It was such a buzz to see so many people in my Sunday yoga classes Dundrum last week๐Ÿ”ฅ

Well done to everyone, not only in Dundrum but all locations who have come to one of my classes, whether itโ€™s yoga or mobility! Youโ€™ve done the hard part which is showing up โ˜บ๏ธ

Now itโ€™s about consistency and making the time to move your body, stretch it out, work on that balance and increase your range of motion.

The most important thing is you are aware of your body, how it moves and investing the time to better it, so many donโ€™tโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s been a while since Iโ€™ve posted on Instagram, itโ€™s been a mad few months (in a good way โค๏ธ).

Behind the scenes along with my day to day classes at , Iโ€™ve been doing a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training course with and the fabulous .

We had our exam two weeks ago and even though I was prepared and studied like a lunatic, I still wasnโ€™t sure how it went so when I saw the results email come in, I had no idea what the outcome would beโ€ฆ

Anyway I am very excited and SO happy to say that I am officially a qualified Prenatal Yoga Teacher๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’•

Anyone feel like moving with me tomorrow?

Weโ€™ve all felt that stiffness in the joints, the cracking of your knee or ankle or backโ€ฆI know Iโ€™m biased but working on your mobility and generally becoming better at movement through improved range will change the way you train whether itโ€™s in the gym or you play for a sports team etc.

Movement @ FFS is a class thatโ€™s purely focused on functional mobility to create space between the joints to increase help with better overall moving of the body. You wonโ€™t break a sweat but itโ€™s a very different type of intensity that whose whoโ€™ve tried my class will tell you!

MOVEMENT

Iโ€™m coaching a new class on Fridays @ 1.30pm in FFS Gyms which Iโ€™m very excited about!

Have you ever felt stuck whilst moving through a side plank with rotation or maybe your heels start to lift whilst squatting, these are examples of restricted range of motion in the thoracic spine and hip/ankle joints. In Movement at FSS classes, we will focus on the basics of FRC (functional range conditioning) to help improve functional mobility (flexibility + strength/control) to help you move better and get that PB on your lifts!

Iโ€™ve had so many people telling me they have tight hips, ankles, shoulders, lower back; if you feel like you could move better then you NEED this class! If you think you move well, you still need this class๐Ÿ˜

Week by week we will build on the basics, nailing these movements before incorporating holds, lift offs, hovers and all that fun stuff into the class๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

Yoga for Muscle Recovery at The Home Of Hard Work] ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

You maybe have noticed that things are ramping up in the gym, we are lifting heavier, working harder and getting fitter with every week that goes by. Therefore our body is working in overdrive and letโ€™s face it, we all feel those DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) at some stage or another.

So for an active recovery day, why not try out some yoga, thereโ€™s no weights involved, we just use our body and breath to move and twist, helping with joint mobility, muscle flexibility and better range of motion. Plus the best part, a lovely long relaxation at the end!๐Ÿฅฐ

Iโ€™ve been working with Colm over the last number of week as part of his rehab for a lower back issue, focusing yoga flows to strengthen the glutes as well as improving flexibility and control in the body.

I love to sneak in some exercises into my yoga classes, you wonโ€™t even know youโ€™re doing it but amazing for increasing range of motion.๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Up-skilling is important in any industry but particularly the fitness industry and Iโ€™m always trying to learn as much as I can from experience and from others.

This weekend, I took part in the European seminar which was fascinating as well as eye opening in the ways of movement, mobility and strength training.

Delighted to say that Iโ€™m now a certified FRC Mobility Specialist (FRCms) and so excited to incorporate all my learnings into my classes๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

Focus: Hip mobility, quad flexibility & glute strength

Can you believe itโ€™s nearly the weekend again?! Honestly the weeks are going so fast I canโ€™t keep up๐Ÿ˜Š

Iโ€™m back this weekend in 34 Leeson and Ivy for two delicious yoga classes that will make you feel tip top both mentally and physically.

Weโ€™ll be continuing to improve hip mobility alongside lengthening and stretching the quadriceps (if youโ€™ve been in lower this week with those barbell split squats this is for you!). Glute strength will also feature but donโ€™t be alarmed, itโ€™ll be very manageable ๐Ÿ˜Š if our Glutes are weak, we tend to compensate with other parts of the body which in turn can cause injury and a whole host of other issues and thatโ€™s the last thing we want!

So join me tomorrow or Sunday morning at 10.15am, whether youโ€™re an member or not, itโ€™s open to everyone so Iโ€™d love to see you.

This weekend, Yoga for Muscle Recovery is all about working on hip and shoulder mobility as well as lengthening out muscles around these joints. As always these sessions incorporate total body movements but itโ€™s always good to have a focus area(s) to work on๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Remember tight hips affect everyone (me included!) so if youโ€™re feeling particularly tight in this area or your lower back is at you, come along over the weekend, join in a class and see how you feel afterwards โ˜บ๏ธ

KB swings have been and still are a key focus for us in S&C classes at . The main movement in a swing comes from the hips so mobility in this area will really help to improve performance.

This week in M&M, Iโ€™ll be taking you through some great hip mobility exercises coupled with some groin stretches as well as glute activation movements to strengthen but also improve flexibility (including the piriformis).

Over the next 12 weeks in the gym, one of the areas weโ€™ll be working on is getting stronger at our chins and push ups in S&C sessions.

To do this, we need the mobility to move freely without any pain or discomfort. Increasing the range of motion in our wrists, elbows and shoulders are key for improved performance as elbow flexion and shoulder extension are needed for chin ups (Pull) and horizontal adduction at the shoulder, elbow extension and scapular protraction for push ups (Push).

In M&M this week, weโ€™ll be focusing on increasing mobility in the joints used in these movements by CARS (Controlled articulated rotations), P&R (pails & rails โ€“ taking a joint to its end range), Holds/Isos (to close the gap between passive and active range) alongside a dynamic yoga flow.

As a Yoga & Mobility coach, I absolutely love helping people to move better and feel better by combining yoga flows with mobility work. Everyone needs yoga in their lives (I promise Iโ€™m not biased๐Ÿ˜)
