We are greatly saddened to hear of the death of Prof David Foley. Dave was an extraordinary man who gave his everything to everything he did. As a Cardiologist he was one of the best there was, world-class in both interventional cardiology and structural heart.
Dave was a larger than life character who was passionate about everything in his life, in particular his family, work and sport. He was hugely entertaining with his vast catalogue of movie quotes, great sporting knowledge, his colourful storytelling and always ready to have the craic. He didn’t suffer fools gladly and was always honest with his opinion, whether you liked it or not.
Dave was a co-founder, advisor and great friend of Eclipse Medical and to me personally. He was instrumental in the development and pre-clinical testing of the Omega LAA Occluder.
You will be greatly missed by us all. Thank you for everything you have done for us and for enriching the lives of so many.
Our deepest condolences to Dave’s family, his wife Oonagh and his children Ally and Hugh, and to his extended family, friends and colleagues.
