Odin's Wood is a Day Care Centre for Older Persons living in Finglas. We are open from Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm.

Established in 2001 the Centre provides a service for people in the community over the age of 65.

The end of another week and we couldn't let it pass without wishing a very special lady a huge Happy Birthday😊 Ann had a week of celebrations and I'm sure they'll continue well into next week too!! We had cake, balloons, singing and dancing and she deserves no less.... a very special lady who brightens every room.... she has been coming to Odins Wood for 17 years and here's hoping for many more to come. Happy Birthday Ann❤️🎉🎂🥳

Odins Wood Day Centre will be closed Friday 24th January due to the Status Red weather warning which is due to be in place from 6am - 12pm

Odins Wood Day Care Centre will be closed tomorrow January 9th and Friday January 10th. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but the safety of our clients and staff take priority. Please stay safe and check on elderly neighbours where possible during these challenging weather conditions.

We are asking older people across the country to look for support they may need 🧡 and for others to be aware of older people in their communities 🏡 who may be challenged or more isolated because of the cold snap ❄️.

ALONE recommends older people to:

🏠 Keep the heating on in their home, especially in the rooms that they use the most.
🍵 Eat and drink hot food and beverages to stay warm, perhaps even using the microwave if there is a concern around energy efficiency.
🧥 Wear more than one layer of clothing to stay warm.
🚫 Avoid making journeys that involve going outdoors, particularly in counties affected by the snow-ice warning ❄️⚠️.
⚡ If using an electric blanket, check for signs of wear and tear – if the blanket is old and damaged, do not use it under any circumstances.
📞 Keep in touch with friends and family to let them know if you need any practical support, such as picking up fuel, medicines, and groceries.

What a lovely day for our Odins Wood Christmas Party in the Pillo Hotel Ashbourne..... great music by the brilliant Bobby Mc and The Dukes. A day of lovely food, great music and even better company what more could you ask for1😊🎄🎅

We had a lovely evening last night for our Tree Lighting Ceremony🎄🎄🎄 (in spite of the weather!) Dermot lit our tree and was surprised with a small presentation to mark 23 years of working and volunteering in the centre, it was a lovely moment and we were delighted his family could join us to mark the occasion🙂 and obviously the night wouldn't be complete without a visit from the main man himself, so big thank you to Santa for taking time out of his hectic schedule🎅 last but not least thank you to every person who braved the weather to come join us and to our staff Lisa, Joan, Jeannette, Sandra and Gemma for making the event happen.... next year we'll have the child of Prague out the night before!!
