As the year closes today with the last sunset of 2025and in memory of the words of the Irish poet and philosopher John O Donoghue who invited us to meet each occurance in our lives with reverence I want to share a poem marking the fall that was such a profound presence in my 2025 and to thank my family , friends and all who helped me meet this fall with reverence and so much more
Thank you
The Fall
A moment of radical uncertainty,
A fierce fall from the grace of knowing all is well.
Down those bone breaking inches to solid ground.
The pain unforgiving and diligent
through bleak days of drugged haze,
Then- held in the arms of home with my loyal angel,
Now like a baby again I come to standing , timid, tired and shy.
I have walked through a dark night of the soul
leant into pain
and I am coming through.
I now know there is somewhere under fear,
and i have been there ,
going down beneath the dread, the helplessness and the no,
to a new surrender and grace,
Dropping through time into timelessness.
Another door opens,
One I never knew was there
Loss is the key
Refusing my loss I dampen my living.
Opening to my loss I awaken to my loving,
I have been shattered and now I grow anew,
Courage rising up my spine.
the gods of patience and surrender fly around me.
