Orwell Healthcare provides Long Term Residential, Convalescent Care, Acquired Brain Injury Rehab Orwell Queen of Peace is a sister home of Orwell Private.

Orwell Healthcare is one of Ireland's most respected healthcare providers with an unrivaled reputation for the provision of care. It is a family run business founded in 1987 by Peter & Dr Mary Jones who have used their extensive experience in healthcare to develop Orwell Private, Orwell Home Care and Orwell Education as centres of excellence for care. In March 2017, Orwell Healthcare took over a second nursing home in Rathgar, Queen of Peace which had been run by the Sisters of St Paul of Chartres since 1972. Orwell Private and Orwell Queen of Peace provide long-term and respite residential nursing services to older people. Orwell Private also provides convalescent care in Elgin Convalescence and specialist nursing and rehabilitation in its Acquired Brain Injury Unit. Orwell Home Care provides care to people in their own homes in the community and Orwell Education offers a wide range of courses for healthcare professionals and for those who are caring for people in their own homes.

We were delighted to kick off the first day of our Christmas programme at the Orwell Marquee. Thank you to The Stratford School for sharing their wonderful music with us and we were lucky enough to decorate (and taste) some of Jane’s famous Christmas cake!

We’re proud to announce a major milestone for Orwell Healthcare as our newly renovated €30 million care facility nears completion on Garville Avenue, Dublin 6. Opening early next year, it will create 200 new jobs and bring our total capacity to 308 beds at a time when Ireland urgently needs more residential care options. A purpose built home shaped by our values, ready to welcome residents and new team members in 2026!

The HSE’s National Health Protection Office has advised that a summer wave of COVID-19 is now highly likely.

Recent information from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) shows a steady increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalisations. The rise in cases is linked to a new variant called NB.1.8.1 (‘Nimbus’), which is more easily spread.
