The Jocelyn Blake Cancer Fund

The Jocelyn Blake Cancer Fund It was set up and is managed by her friends and family. She promptly started a round of chemotherapy in The Mater Public in Dublin, Ireland. And so are we.

The Jocelyn Blake Cancer is dedicated to supporting our beloved friend Jocelyn Blake's treatment for a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer at the Chemo Thermia Oncology Centre in Istanbul. After a series of surgeries throughout 2017, Jocelyn was diagnosed with Stage Four ovarian cancer in September 2017. Though Jocelyn is very grateful to her medical teams in Ireland who have supported her through this process, the only treatment currently available to her here is palliative i.e. relieving the pain rather than curing the cause. Jocelyn is not willing to settle for palliative treatment, which may buy her some precious time with her daughter Freya, her beloved family and her wide circle of loving friends. Instead, she is going after curative treatment. She wants to boss cancer out of her body, and she won't take no for an answer. We don't call her Bossy Jossy for nothing. After less than a week of fundraising, our unbelievably generous donors enabled us to cover the cost of the first round of Jocelyn's treatment at the Chemo Thermia Oncology Center in Istanbul and to cover part of the associated costs of getting her to and from the Clinic. Thanks to your generosity, Jocelyn is travelling to Istanbul on Sunday 15th of October 2017 to begin her treatment at The Chemo Thermia Oncology Clinic. She will receive treatment in The Center for ten days and then she will return to Dublin for ten days. She will then return to Istanbul for another ten day treatment session, and then back to Dublin for ten days. This cycle will repeat until early 2018. With your help, we, the Friends of Jocelyn Blake, would like to keep this fundraising drive going. Our new goal is raise €100k by Christmas 2017. This will help cover all of the costs of flights to and from Istanbul for Jocelyn and her carer as well as their accommodation costs. It will cover PET scan costs, follow up visits, and the associated costs of a second round of treatment, which will begin in early 2018. We want to make sure that Jocelyn, Freya and their family don't have to worry about finances at this difficult time. We also want to make sure that Jocelyn will be supported in her recovery in the months to come. We will be hosting fundraising events around Ireland between now and Christmas. If you can help us spread the word and help us get to €100k by Christmas, we could be so grateful. Thank you again for your kindness, thoughts and messages. Jocelyn is beyond grateful and is truly overwhelmed by the love she has been shown. Thank you.
