✨ Nursing Homes Week 2025 – “A Taste of Home” ✨

We had a truly special week here at Highfield as we celebrated Nursing Homes Week with the theme “A Taste of Home.” 🏡💚

Our residents and staff enjoyed a variety of wonderful activities, including:
🎶 Live music
🍰 Baking sessions with favourite family recipes
☕ Talk ’n’ Tea with a fun quiz
🦙 A memorable visit from our alpaca friends at Cornstown House!

One of the week’s most important moments was celebrating two incredible milestones:
🌟 25 years of dedication from Cheriel Songkit
🌟 26 years of service from Colleen Burke

We are so grateful for their commitment and the joy they bring to Highfield every day. 💐💚

Last week at Highfield Healthcare we participated in a greatly successful celebration which focused on the Nursing Homes Ireland theme of 2024 'Capturing Life's Moments' with a focus on the art of Photography.

A huge well done to our super creative and dedicated team of Activity Therapists (seen below) for planning and delivering a great week for our cherished residents.

🎈 is in full swing at Highfield Healthcare🎈

Our wonderful Activity Therapy team have a fun-filled week in progress for our cherished residents whilst embracing the Nursing Homes Ireland theme for 2024 of 'Capturing Life's Moments' with a focus on the art of Photography.

During the first half of the week our residents took part in a photoshoot where they took some photographs on a nature walk through our beautiful gardens. There was a Summer Picnic, Bingo and afternoon of singing along with our resident Singer Don. We had a "morning at the pictures" where photo memories of Ireland were shown on the big screen for all to watch.

The celebrations will continue for the remainder of the week, as always, we aim to ensure that our wonderful residents have enjoyable experiences to support the enhancement of their well-being.

Recently at Highfield Healthcare our Alzheimer's Care Centre residents, created a collaborative artpiece named “The Glimpse”. The piece was created as part of Age & Opportunity's Bealtaine Festival 2024, in partnership with Nursing Homes Ireland

Our wonderful residents were supported by our super creative Activity Therapy and Art Therapy teams, to create the beautiful artpiece (pictured below).

We held a special unveiling event to showcase the art, where guest speaker, Stained-Glass Artist Madeleine Hellier gave a very moving speech to all in attendance. In addition, Memory Gara (Director of Nursing ACC) discussed the importance of creativity as a therapeutic intervention.

You can find some photos of “The Glimpse” below, alongside photos of our speakers Memory Gara and Madeleine Hellier and also project coordinator Art Therapist Marie Checkmodine-Chatoua.

We wish to express a huge thank you and congratulations to all involved! The project was a great success, and we are immensely proud of the work created by our wonderful resident-artists. 🎨

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland Denim Day for Dementia - March 1st 2024

Today at Highfield Healthcare we are wearing our denim in support of a great cause that is very close to our hearts 💙

Dementia is a physical illness that causes damage to brain cells. This damage means a person’s ability to remember, think, speak and to do everyday things will change. As dementia progresses, the changes become greater, and the person will need more help. There are currently 64,000 people in Ireland living with dementia. There are over 200 different types of dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia.

If you would like to join us donating to this worthy cause, you can do so directly by visiting https://alzheimer.ie
