Small steps, big wins 🙌
One of our clients (22, autistic, experiencing social anxiety) had never taken public transport on her own before. The thought of it felt overwhelming: the noise, the people, the unknowns.
Over several months in OT, we broke down her goal into achievable, graded steps:
🔹 Looking up bus routes online
🔹 Practicing anxiety management strategies
🔹 Testing out different noise-cancelling headphones
🔹 Walking to the bus stop and watching others get on
🔹Visualising the inside of the bus
🔹Applying for the free travel scheme
🔹Learning how to tap on and off
🔹Getting on and getting off at the next stop
🔹 Building confidence step by step
Today, she proudly took the bus home on her own after our session!
Moments like these remind us that independence doesn’t happen all at once, it’s built one step at a time.

We just had the pleasure of running a series of workshops with in Crumlin, supporting 14 amazing young men and women to build skills in time management, organisation, and routine planning ✨
The Ability Programme provided each participant with whiteboards, timers, fidget tools, and journals to help put our learnings into practice. How great is that!
We had so many valuable discussions around stress management strategies, and how low mood and anxiety can make it really difficult to stay organised and keep consistent routines.
So inspired by the openness, insight, and engagement from everyone who took part 💡👏

Anchor Therapy is a mobile, community-based Mental Health service in Ireland focusing on improving the well-being and quality of life of teenagers, young people and adults. Anchor Therapy was founded by Michelle Murray who is Mental Health Occupational Therapist living in Dublin.
Mission:
Our mission is to increase options for people wishing to access best practice health care. While traditional models of clinic-based treatments are highly effective for some, they are not always suitable for everyone. At Anchor Therapy, you have the choice. You can come to a room in Ballsbridge, or our OT can bring evidence-based and person-centred health treatments to you in your place of work, at home, in school or in other any other context that lends itself to benefiting you.
Vision:
Our vision is that the people of Ireland who are struggling with their mental health will be able to collaborate with a highly skilled, recovery focused and passionate group of professionals who work on the one team in the community.
Anchor Therapy is a safe place where everyone is welcome.
