We had an absolutely fantastic night at Erin’s Isle GAA Club, hosted by our Finglas and Cabra teams! Our Cabaret evening featured special guests Ronan Collins, Billy Hughes, Tommy Carey, Karen Black, and the Sugar Cubes—all brilliantly brought together by Musical Director Eugene McCarthy.
We were delighted to present €500 cheques to six incredible local groups. In Finglas, thanks to Le Chéile Arís, Erin’s Isle, FAST (Finglas Addiction Support Team), and Finglas Tidy Towns. In Cabra, thanks to Christ the King Day Centre, Sancta Maria Day Centre, and the D7 Women’s Shed for all the amazing work you do.

A huge thank-you to Tony Smullen for capturing the night so beautifully. It was a true celebration of our community spirit—everyone had a ball! 💙✨

The death has occurred of Freddie Maguire, Ballsbridge, Dublin / Bluebell, Dublin.

MAGUIRE, Freddie, 27th May, 2025, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, formerly of Bluebell, Dublin 12. Peacefully in the care of the wonderful staff of The Blackrock Clinic under the guidance of Prof. Michael Cullen, Dr. Eoin Tiernan and their team, following an illness borne with dignity and courage in the tender loving care of his wife and family at home.

Formerly Managing Director and Chairman of Massey Bros Funeral Directors, Freddie will be fondly remembered by the many families he cared for throughout Dublin with dignity and compassion, by the dedicated staff who worked alongside him, and by fellow funeral directors across the country who valued his quiet contribution to the funeral profession. A man of gentle strength and deep integrity, he carried forward the tradition established by his mother and in doing so gently passed that legacy to the next generation of his family ensuring the values he upheld will continue into the future.

Freddie is forever loved and dearly missed by his wife and best friend Aileen, his treasured eight children; daughters Audrey, Freda, Susan and Julie, sons, Peter, Andrew, Robert and William, sons-in-law Shane, Mujeeb, Rory and Gavan, daughters-in-law Erica, Hollie and Jamie, his ten adored grandchildren, sister Colette, brothers-in-law Brendan and Michael, extended family, relatives and his many friends especially Gerald Jacob and Noel McGaley.

He is now reunited with his beloved parents Paddy and Cissie (Massey), sisters Sylvia Wynne and Olive Brady.

May he Rest in Peace.

A private service to celebrate Freddie’s life was held in The Victorian Chapel, Mt. Jerome Crematorium, Harold’s Cross on Thursday afternoon. His family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and warmest thanks for all the love and support they have received.
