Yesterday’s launch of Connecting for Life 2026–2035 marks an important moment for su***de and self-harm reduction in Ireland. It was encouraging to see such strong commitment and collaboration across Government departments, State agencies and community organisations, alongside a clear recognition that this work requires a whole-of-society response. The strategy places lived and living experience at the centre of its vision and implementation, while also recognising the importance of compassion, early intervention, stigma reduction and coordinated support.

Shine congratulates everyone involved in developing this ambitious new national strategy and all those who contributed their expertise, insight and lived experience throughout the consultation process.

We look forward to working alongside Government, the HSE, community and voluntary organisations, researchers, advocates and people with lived and living experience to help deliver on the actions set out in the strategy over the coming decade.

Reducing su***de and self-harm is everybody’s business. Through partnership, evidence-informed action and meaningful inclusion of lived experience, we can continue to build a more compassionate Ireland where people feel supported, connected and able to access help when they need it most.

With the lovely weather inspiring us and the school summer holidays starting shortly, it is time to get outside and make the most of the area we live in.

We are starting an adult's social walking group shortly and are looking for a volunteer to coordinate it.
