Lisa Quish Yoga

Lisa Quish Yoga Qualified yoga & meditation teacher. EYT 500hr Dave Curtis, Yoga Room, YTI & diploma Triyoga

I'm a Dublin based yoga teacher who runs a variety of retreats in Ireland and overseas. My teaching is a blend of classical Hatha, Iyengar and Vinyasa, and is influenced by Ayurvedic principles. I'd describe my style as flowing and grounding, influenced by the elements and the seasons. Classes are sequenced to engage students fully, in a challenging, compassionate and mindful way; while not losing sight of the fact that the mat is also a place for play!

Happy New Year, the same words every year pass our lips and yet the word happy gets tied up in knots with an internal dialogue that usually involves words like resolutions, improvements. But you can take your foot off the peddle, as we are still in the dreaming and resting phase… as I sit here cosy in my PJs I am not in a rush to move … but I know by April the Algarve is exactly where we will all want to be. Join and I for our wellness retreat it will be just what we need 😍

I am sure I am not alone in saying that today the longest day of the year is one of my favourites.

These days around Solstice where time seems to stand still like the sun ‘Grianstad’ feel delightful. In these long June days please play…

☀️soak in the sun, bathe in fresh water or salty, wear less, cycle from mountain pools to rose gardens and get wet in the showers in between
☀️Take notice if your life, the polarity of opposites. Today the sun is at its imperial height and from tomorrow we slowly move again towards the feminine energy of Winter Solstice
☀️ Don’t try to hold on but do take the time to be grateful for the moments of joy and live them fully

Ironically I will clock in for work today in an environment that sells watches and has a horological department 😉 but this is just another little reminder that life is full of paradoxes and surprises….💕✨

This starts my 22nd year of teaching middle school. Yesterday was quite possibly one of the most impactful days I have ever had.
I tried a new activity called “The Baggage Activity”. I asked the kids what it meant to have baggage and they mostly said it was hurtful stuff you carry around on your shoulders.
I asked them to write down on a piece of paper what was bothering them, what was heavy on their heart, what was hurting them, etc. No names were to be on a paper. They wadded the paper up, and threw it across the room.
They picked up a piece of paper and took turns reading out loud what their classmate wrote. After a student read a paper, I asked who wrote that, and if they cared to share.
I’m here to tell you, I have never been so moved to tears as what these kids opened up and about and shared with the class.
Things like su***de, parents in prison, drugs in their family, being left by their parents, death, cancer, losing pets (one said their gerbil died cause it was fat, we giggled😁) and on and on.
The kids who read the papers would cry because what they were reading was tough. The person who shared (if they chose to tell us it was them) would cry sometimes too. It was an emotionally draining day, but I firmly believe my kids will judge a little less, love a little more, and forgive a little faster.
This bag hangs by my door to remind them that we all have baggage. We will leave it at the door. As they left I told them, they are not alone, they are loved, and we have each other’s back.
I am honored to be their teacher.

How lovely

A teacher gave a balloon to every student, who had to inflate it, write their name on it and throw it in the hallway. The teacher then mixed all the balloons. The students were then given 5 minutes to find their own balloon. Despite a hectic search, no one found their balloon.

At that point, the teacher told the students to take the first balloon that they found and hand it to the person whose name was written on it. Within 5 minutes, everyone had their own balloon.

The teacher said to the students: "These balloons are like happiness. We will never find it if everyone is looking for their own. But if we care about other people's happiness, we'll find ours too."

May your day be filled with happiness. ❤️
