Acupuncture Research and Evidence
Acupuncture is a highly researched treatment intervention:
▪️ In the last 20 years there have been over 13,000 studies conducted in over 60 countries.
▪️ There are almost 1,000 systematic reviews.
▪️ The Acupuncture Evidence Project, updated in 2017 summarises the entire literature base.
▪️ The Acupuncture Evidence Project has found evidence for the effectiveness of acupuncture in 117 health conditions.
▪️ Studies have found a range of mechanisms in the body to show how acupuncture works. Just a few examples of these are: circulation of neuropeptides, purinergic signalling, and modulation of parasympathetic activity(the branch of the nervous system associated with rest, digestion and tissue healing).
