On-site facilities include stroke rehab clinic, security, respite care medical related facilities and chaple The elected members of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County voted in favour of a Retirement Village and Stroke Rehabilitation Clinic for Ticknock, Sandyford, Dublin 18. This was adopted into the County Development Plan for 2010 – 2016. Councillors recognised the need to provide efficient, safe and sustainable care facilities for our older population and felt that Grange Village was ideally situated close to a densely populated older community. It is well documented that older people want to remain in close proximity to family and friends and the Grange Village offering was seen as a perfect solution. Furthermore the village would create over 200 local jobs and support many of the local businesses within the community. Soon after the Development Plan was published it was identified that a slight amendment to the original objective was required to overcome a technicality in the County Development Plan. This amendment requires the majority vote of council members. Unfortunately Grange Village has been held up for over two years due to once very supportive local councillors changing their vote in favour of the opposition. One must ask why these councillors have changed their vote and turned their back on the elderly and the creation of over 200 local jobs.
