The first thing I put in my medicine bag for holidays is this ancient Chinese herbal formula for stomach & digestive upset.

Think Spanish tummy, food poisoning symptoms, vomiting , nausea, diarrhoea, epigastric or abdominal pain.

This bottle is in tablet form however you can get it in powder form too.

It comprises of 6 herbs and is warm and drying.

Those with a red tongue, yellow coating who are always looking for cold drinks should take a minimal amount.

This is because you are already showing signs of overheating and this herb with exasperate your heat.

I always try out new products on myself first before offering to the public. Tibetan foot soaks have blown me away. The combination of 8 ethically sourced herbs and minerals are the ultimate detoxifier. The formula absorbs trans dermally which is great for people with sensitive stomachs. I'm hearing amazing reports for people suffering from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, menstrual issues, neuropathy, stiffness, irregular heartbeat, digestive disorders and obesity. I could go on.

In the language of Traditional Chinese medicine, the soaks gently influence the body by eliminating wind, draining damp and moving qi and blood.

My wish is for people suffering from Fibromyalgia and Neuropathic pain to get to experience these first.

Listen to the attached podcast from the creators of the soaks for a detailed understanding.

I am the only person in Ireland who has these at the moment as far as I know.

Do you know someone who could benefit from the soaks?

There you have it. The science of what actually happens to you when you are needled. Acupuncture stimulates the acupuncture point which scientifically is called a Neurovascular bundle. This bundle contains blood vessels and motor & sensory efferent nerves.

Our blood is then directed around our circulatory system. Optimal health is reliant on blood flowing harmoniously through our bodies.

Our blood is responsible for:

1️⃣ Transporting oxygen, nutrients, neurotransmitters & neuropeptides.
2️⃣ Forming Blood clots
3️⃣ Protecting from infections
4️⃣ Carrying waste products for removal
5️⃣ Regulating body temperature

A major cause of disease is blood stagnation. This means our blood is not flowing freely to any given area resulting is pain , numbness, infertility, menstrual issues, emotional distress, spider veins and or tumours to name a few.

Keep the blood flowing ❤️

Todays topic is Insomnia and how I treat people who are experiencing it.

'Insomnia is a psychiatric disorder with symptoms such as difficulty falling asleep, waking up frequently during the night, or early awakening. It affects tens of millions of people around the world, has become a major human health concern. Insomnia is mainly divided into short-term insomnia, chronic insomnia and other insomnia, of which, chronic insomnia is the main type of insomnia. Insomnia is accompanied by mental fatigue. It can also induce palpitations, chest paralysis, vertigo, headache, stroke disease and many other diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment for insomnia focuses on regulating the body's internal environment. It includes Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) and acupuncture. Acupuncture & CHM is the most effective way in the clinical treatment of insomnia. Many studies have shown the advantages of acupuncture & CHM in insomnia patients, in terms of the clinical outcomes.'
Journal of Innovations in Medical Research

I have had to dig deep to help clients with Insomnia. I've had to train with the best teachers in the world and upskill in the use of Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM)

As a result, I've created a 5 step program for Insomnia sufferers. Put simply- I detox you first and then I strengthen you through acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. All for a better nights sleep.

I've designed a carefully thought out intake form which gathers all of your signs and symptoms.

I will know exactly what's going on before you arrive for your first appointment.

If you or someone you know needs help in this area, you can book online.

Choose acupuncture for insomnia-----you will be emailed the intake form. This is the start of the process.

The science behind how acupuncture relieves pain from a biomedical perspective

The mechanisms underlying how acupuncture relieves pain have been extensively researched for over 60 years.

Sensory nerve pathways involving specialized nerve fibers (Aδ, Aβ and C, to be precise) and descending nervous system pathways have been mapped.
Numerous biochemicals have been identified including opioid and non-opioid neuropeptides, and neurotransmitters such as serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, cytokines, glutamate, nitric oxide, and gamma-amino-butyric-acid (GABA).

Acupuncture analgesia has been shown to involve several classes of naturally produced opioid neuropeptides including enkephalins, endorphins, dynorphins, endomorphins, and nociceptin (also known as Orphanin FQ). Among the non-opioid neuropeptides, substance P (SP), vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), which plays a central role in the pathogenesis of migraine, have been investigated for their roles in both the analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects of acupuncture.

Acupuncture has been demonstrated to directly initiate a process called purinergic signaling, a primitive and ubiquitous system in the body using adenosine and ATP for signaling and regulation in all tissues and organ systems. It is now understood that all nerve transmission requires ATP as a co-factor and the that the body uses purine levels as a primary background signal of both healthy function and tissue damage.

Purinergic signaling has been demonstrated to play a central role in such diverse clinical areas as migraines and headaches, immune dysfunction and inflammation, cancer, autism, Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease, endrocrine function, embryological development, and gastrointestinal disorders.

In addition to biochemical actions, studies also demonstrate direct effects of acupuncture on the central nervous system.

Additionally, modulates parasympathetic activity, the branch of the nervous system associated with rest, relaxation, digestion and tissue healing.
