🏃‍♀️ Meet Niamh 🏃‍♀️

This year, Niamh will take on her fourth marathon — but for the very first time, she’s running to raise funds for St James’s Hospital Foundation in memory of her mum 💙

“St James’s Hospital volunteers were exceptional during Mum’s time there and were a huge support to Ailbhe and me in her final days. Mum loved marathon day with the ‘Believe’ sign. Your support — whether through a donation or by sharing this page — means the world. Every step counts. Every share helps. Thank you so much!”

We’re so grateful to have Niamh as part of Team St James’s as she takes on this challenge.

If you’ve got a marathon ticket, why not join Niamh and 23 other runners this year and run for St James’s?

We’ve set up a WhatsApp group to keep our runners connected and supported with:
✨ Training tips from our hospital physios and dietitians
✨ Fundraising advice and ideas
✨ Plenty of encouragement in the final weeks before race day!

We’ll also send you a St James’s running t-shirt and sponsorship cards to help you on your journey.

📧 Email events@supportstjames.ie
to join the group and be part of Team St James’s this October!

Big congratulations to Lauren Reardon, who completed her first ever Ultra Marathon in Longford — an incredible 63.42km (39.3 miles) — all in support of St James’s Hospital Foundation! 🏃‍♀️💙

Lauren shared this about her incredible achievement:

On August 24th, I achieved my biggest running challenge yet — my first ever Ultra Marathon in Longford, 63.42km (39.3 miles). Not only did I complete this race, I also finished 3rd place female 🥉!

To make this milestone truly meaningful, I’ve raised funds for St James's Hospital, a place that holds deep significance for my family and me. Two cherished family members (Thomas Dalton & Mary Glynn) received outstanding care here before sadly passing away far too soon. We miss them every day.

My amazing Aunty Danielle was also treated in the ICU during the height of Covid-19, where she fought a terrifying battle — and won. During this time, she also gave birth to her superstar baby, Corey. Thanks to the incredible care from every nurse and doctor, both Danielle and Corey pulled through and are home with us today, stronger than ever.

I’m running in memory of those we’ve lost and in honour of those who were saved. The care, compassion, and expertise of the staff at St James’s will never be forgotten — and I want to give something back.

Please consider supporting my fundraiser. Every donation, no matter the size, helps. If you can’t donate, sharing this page with your friends and family means the world to me. Thank you so much for your support — it truly means everything.

A huge thank you to Lauren for her amazing efforts 🌟 You can still donate to her fundraiser until 7th September! 👇

🚴‍♂️ Cycle for Seánie – Thank You 💙

On the 5th of July 2025, Seán Cremin’s family and friends took on the 170km Ring of Kerry in his honour, raising over €80,000 (and counting!). The funds are being shared between Cork University Hospital and St James’s Hospital, which will go directly towards supporting world-class care, life-saving treatment and vital research.

A special thank you to Caoimhe, Seán’s wife, whose love, courage and commitment were the driving force behind this event. And well done to the whole Cycle for Seánie team — this gift is a powerful legacy for Seán and a testament to the love and friendship he inspired.

From all of us at St James’s Hospital Foundation, our deepest thanks for the incredible effort, dedication and heart you poured into Cycle for Seánie, and for helping us continue to care for patients and families when they need it most 🙏

We are delighted to share that St James’s Hospital Foundation has been shortlisted as a finalist for Charity Board of the Year at the Charity Institute Ireland Charity Excellence Awards!

This recognition feels extra special as it is our very first time entering the awards. This recognition shines a light on the incredible dedication of our Board of Trustees, whose teamwork, leadership, and vision help drive our mission forward every day.

From diverse skills and perspectives to their strong partnership with our Director of Development Aisling Nolan and Head of Finance John Kennedy, as well as their work with the wider SJFH team. They continuously go above and beyond their duties to create meaningful impact for the people and patients we serve in St James's Hospital Dublin.

Our board has played a vital role in shaping our new strategic plan, helping recruit a brand-new experienced team, and building meaningful, effective relationships with the hospital. We are so proud of how far we’ve come together, and this shortlisting is a wonderful acknowledgement of the leadership, teamwork, and commitment driving our mission forward.

We are absolutely blown away by the incredible €55,517 raised for the Head & Neck Oncology Clinic at St James’s Hospital from Fisherstown’s Tractor & Truck Run! 💙

A huge thank you to every driver, volunteer, sponsor, supporter, and member of the local community — and most of all, to the Fisherstown Tractor & Truck Run Committee for organising this amazing event and choosing St James’s Hospital Foundation as your beneficiary this year 🙏

Your generosity will directly support patients receiving cancer care in our hospital, making a real difference to their treatment and comfort.

Every year, Fisherstown hosts this fantastic run and donates the proceeds to a charity supporting cancer care. Make sure to keep an eye out for next year — it’s a day not to be missed! 🚜🚛🚗
