Minimum standards for research have been published by our friends at Iahaio_official.

Following work undertaken by an international taskforce and consultation with those working in research and practice, IAHAIO is proud to announce the publication of its NEW minimum standards for research in Animal-Assisted Services (AAS), Human-Animal Interaction (HAI) and Human-Animal Bond (HAB).👏

These standards provide a baseline for ethical and methodological rigor while safeguarding the well-being of both humans and animals. They are designed to be internationally relevant, flexible, and evolving, reflecting ongoing advances in research, education, practice and policy.

They place human and animal well-being at the forefront and were co-created with the active cooperation of global international partners. They consider academia, practice and education as equivalents and are targeted across domains.

We are proud to announce these standards are now live on the IAHAIO website and available for download. Visit the link in our stories or the link below for full access.💻

Yesterday, we had a great meeting of our Asia Pacific network. We discussed the upcoming Horses in Therapy conference in Beijing in 2026, as well as the importance of collaboration with medical professionals in EAS. We concluded that the best way to get more medical professionals involved in EAS is to meet them where they are at - attend medical conferences, share research and case studies, invite them to open days where they can see EAS in practice.

We were also reminded of the importance of having fully trained staff working in our services and the importance of listening to and being aware of our service users when it comes to their comfort on and off the horse.

It was such a great discussion! If you missed it, you can see all our Asia-Pacific meeting recordings here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7loRSVHHCsgbZKT0AvHWM6pNxEjORQF2&si=kny2g8vJBwnfMeoG
