Consistency beats intensity every time.

You don’t need to do more, you need to do it regularly.

One minute a day of acupressure or gentle movement is more powerful than one strong session once a week.
The body responds to rhythm, not force.

Pair your practice with daily life, kettle boiling, TV on, morning routine.

This is how habits become healing.

Yang energy is rising, and your body feels it too.

Stiffness, tension, that sense of being stuck, this is energy asking to move.

In Qi Gong, especially through the 8 Brocades, we don’t fight the body, we guide it back into flow.

For those living with Parkinson’s, this gentle rising energy can be supported, softened, and directed.
You are not stuck, your energy can shift.

If you are exhausted from caring for someone you love, this is one of the most powerful foods you can add to your day.

Bone broth.

In traditional Chinese medicine the bones, nervous system and deep reserves of energy are connected to what we call the Kidney system. When someone is burnt out from long periods of stress or caring for others, this deeper energy can become depleted.

Bone broth is one of the simplest ways to gently rebuild those reserves.

Slow simmering bones releases minerals, collagen and amino acids that support the joints, nervous system, digestion and overall energy.

It’s warm, easy to digest and deeply nourishing, which is exactly what the body needs when it is under pressure.

The simplest way to make it is to place chicken or beef bones in a large pot of water with a slice of ginger and a splash of apple cider vinegar. Let it simmer gently for several hours.
Even one small cup a day can make a difference over time.

In my latest blog and podcast episode, inspired by a message from a burnt out carer, I talk about how nourishing foods like bone broth can support both carers and the people they care for.

If you are caring for a parent, partner or loved one and feel exhausted, I encourage you to read the article and listen to the episode.

And if you would like to explore more about food as medicine for energy and resilience, you’ll find many simple practices in my new book Find Your Flow: Live Well with Parkinson’s.

Sometimes the most powerful medicine begins in the kitchen.

Struggling with digestion, bloating or low energy?

Your digestion is your centre.

In Chinese medicine, the Spleen and Stomach are responsible for transforming food into energy.
When they are weak, you feel tired, heavy, foggy, and ungrounded.

Simple movements like this, paired with warm, nourishing foods, help bring balance back to the Earth element.

This is how we rebuild from the inside out.

Breathing changes with Parkinson’s, yet few people are shown how to retrain it.

Shallow breathing can increase tension, reduce oxygen flow, and make the nervous system feel constantly on alert. In Chinese Medicine and Qi Gong practice, the breath is one of the most powerful ways to restore calm, improve energy circulation, and support the brain and body working together.

In this practice we explore gentle breathing techniques used in Qi Gong to
• calm the nervous system
• improve oxygen flow and energy circulation
• support voice, posture, and movement
• reduce stress and internal tension

Small daily practices can make a profound difference.

If you are living with Parkinson’s, or supporting someone who is, you are welcome to learn with us.

Most people have never heard of this point… but it can change how your body moves.

It’s called Gall Bladder 34.
In Chinese medicine it is known as the He Sea point of the Gall Bladder meridian, which means it has a powerful influence on the tendons, muscles and the flow of movement in the body.

If you often feel:
-Stiff
-Tight through the hips
-Slow or heavy when walking
-Or restricted in your movement

To find it, sit down and place your fingers at the head of the fibula (on the outer knee area) Slide fingers slightly down wards to find the depression just below. You will feel a soft dip in the muscle.

That’s Gall Bladder 34.

Press gently until you feel a comfortable ache and breathe slowly for about one minute.

In Chinese medicine this point is famous for helping the body release stiffness and restore smooth movement.

It’s one of the key points we often use when supporting people with mobility issues, tension in the body, or Parkinson’s symptoms.

I talk more about this point in my latest blog and podcast episode, inspired by a message from a burnt out carer asking for help.

You can read the blog and listen to the podcast to learn how this point works alongside food and gentle movement.

And if you’d like to explore it further, you’ll find Gall Bladder 34 explained inside our new book

Sometimes one small point can help the whole body soften.

Our Story

Shiatsu, sometimes described as acupuncture without needles, is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine that links together food, emotions, organs, colours, flavours, symptoms, senses, times of year and even times of the day, so that you can interpret moods or symptoms and heal them with food.

It’s not about fad diets, it’s about understanding the ancient simple nutritional system of Yin and Yang. With me, Joanne Faulkner and Conscious Cooking, you understand this simple system to know and embrace what food works for you.

Its about how to love yourself with food as medicine, simple.
