💛 World Kindness Day 💛
13th November

Today is a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a big impact.
At Donore Community Drug & Alcohol Team, we see kindness every day, its in shared conversations, a cup of tea offered, a check-in, a smile, and the simple act of showing up for one another. 🤝✨

Kindness can look like:
🌱 Listening without judgement
🌱 Holding space for someone who’s struggling
🌱 Offering support, even when you don’t have all the answers
🌱 Treating others with dignity, respect, and compassion

So today, we celebrate every person who chooses compassion over assumption, patience over frustration, and understanding over stigma.

Be gentle with yourself. Be gentle with others.
We're all doing our best. 💛

Period Facts:
🩸1 in 2 young women & girls in Ireland have experienced difficulty affording period products.

🩸61% have worn pads or tampons longer than recommended because they were trying to make them last.

🩸Period poverty is more common among women experiencing homelessness, addiction, and poverty, this increases the risk of infection, discomfort, and shame

🩸Many women report skipping meals or essentials in order to afford pads and tampons

Periods are not optional. Access to products should not be either.

Period products should never be a luxury.
At Donore Community Drug & Alcohol Team, we know that the rising cost of everyday essentials can make even basic items hard to access, especially for women already facing housing insecurity, addiction, caring responsibilities, or financial strain.

If you need sanitary towels, tampons, wipes, deodorant or other hygiene essentials, you can collect them discreetly and without any questions asked.

📍Available at:
DCDAT, 78B Donore Avenue, Dublin 8

No judgement. No referral. No cost.
Just support.

👨🏻‍🦱 Grow a Mo for DCDAT this November!
We’re calling on the lads to grow a moustache this month and help us raise awareness around men’s mental health and addiction support in Dublin 8.

This isn’t just about facial hair. it’s about starting conversations that could save lives.

Grow it for:
🟡 The men we’ve lost
🟡 The men fighting silently
🟡 The men who are still here and still trying

Grow a Mo. Start a Conversation. Show Support.

Cheryl spoke powerfully at the joint committee on Drugs, representing the voices of women living through Irelamds crack co***ne crisis.

"Every day, we meet women carrying the weight of trauma, homelessness , and care giving. Women failed by systems not built with their realities in mind. They deserve more than stigma and exclusion; they deserve recovery, dignity and hope"

Across Ireland, the number of women seeking treatment for co***ne use has surged 426% since 2017, with nearly half of all crack co***ne treatment cases now women.

Cheryl called for funding to expand the women's crack co***ne programme into a contingency management programme; an evidence based model proven to reduce harm and suppory recovery by rewarding positive progress. This pilot would help women rebuild their lives, strengthen their families and create safer communities.

Ireland national drug strategy and Sláintecare promise community-based, evidence-led care, this programme will offer exactly that, the women of Donore deserve nothing less.

Fearghal addressed the joint committee on Drugs, giving voice to the realities of our community.

"For over two decades, we've stood at the heart of Donore, supporting individuals and families impacted by addiction. Our work is grounded in harm reduction, recovery and family resilience"

Together, with the support of Government, partners and our community, we can continue building a healthier, safer, more helpful Donore.
