“I started in NLN in 2022 and I did Level 3 Career Start and then I moved onto Level 4 Digital and Retail Skills. Before coming to NLN, I had finished 5th year and I didn’t want to go back to school. I was really dreading it because I would have been going in to Leaving Cert but I was finding school very hard.
It just wasn’t for me, but then I heard about NLN.

NLN offers supports to help students with their mental health which I found very helpful. They have a psychologist and a Rehabilitation Officer for students to talk to, and the Rehabilitation Officer does meditation with students and I also found that very helpful. There is a really good atmosphere in the centre, everyone in NLN is so nice and welcoming.

The best thing about NLN is that you make lots of friends. You get to go on group outings, and each student gets to go on work experience. I have achieved certification from all my modules from Level 3 and Level 4 and I have gained a lot of confidence.

My family and friends have noticed that my confidence has grown massively since I started NLN. I am finished NLN now and I am going to do Level 5 Childcare because I want to work in childcare.

I would highly recommend NLN for anyone who found school hard. NLN has a lot of supports for students to help them with their needs, and to get work experience, and to work on their confidence.
The staff at NLN are a great support and they couldn’t be nicer" ~

Supporting a child means looking at the "whole child"!

Many adults want those top few levels from their neurodivergent kids.

To get to those higher levels, we need all the lower levels solidly built up.

If you have concerns about any of those higher skills, work on the blocks underneath.

Maturity and life experience also help with building this tower. Many of our kids will need accommodations in place to support some things, such as the purple level (executive function skills). Needing accommodations is not a personal failing- not for the kid and not for the parent. It's a sensible, practical, and necessary support.

If you are accommodating your ND kids, your ND students, your ND employees- you are amazing. Thanks for showing the world that it can be done.
