I've found it hard to find words to express my thoughts and the overwhelming grief I've felt at the terror inflicted on the Palestinian people and at the painfully slow and avoidant response internationally. But the words of this song hit me hard a while ago, and they continued to come back to me until I made a video, which I tried to post today but has been blocked.
We can't deny our interconnectivity with what is unfolding in Palestine. The Palestinian people are carrying the crucifix for humanity on this dark dark night of the collective soul, and the impact of this is rippling through the world, no one is untouched.
So I made the video as a meditation for myself, to connect with each life presented within it, and all the lives lost. To contemplate the reality of it and consider what I CAN do, even if that is just this small action of solidarity, and my desperate call to our Government.
An extract is in my stories if you'd like to watch it,with a link to the full version, which is also linked on my bio. Maybe it will act as a meditation for you too. It's not intended to provoke guilt or shame, but contemplation and hopefully action. We can only do so much, so let's keep doing what we can. It is more important than ever that we are not complacent or idle, we need to send a clear message to our Government that we demand they take action and be explicit in denouncing any support for the illegal occupation of Palestine.
It's also intended to be a prayer, that these souls know they are not forgotten and I hope that their deaths, in the end, will not be in vein.
A new sun will soon rise where the structures of oppression and greed will be replaced with a new vision and way of being. But only if we insist and make it happen. I hold this hope in my heart.
I thank the Palestinian people for bearing the crucifix for humanity during this long dark night. We are still with you.
I'd invite anyone, individuals or organizations to use the video if you'd like. I sent it to my elected representatives, maybe you'd like to do the same, or if you think of other ways it could be used, please do.
With love and hope, Free Palestine 🕊️
