Théa Pharma and National Optometry Centre Study Day 2025👁️

On Monday we welcomed fellow professionals and past students of TUDublin to attend the 2nd Théa Study Day at the National Optometry Centre.

Thank you to Orla Smith from Théa Pharma for organising this brilliant day. Thanks also to Nadine Kruger & Mairead Heffernan for sharing their insights on Théa and their dry eye knowledge.

Our appreciation also to our NOC academic staff & clinic staff for speaking as part of the presentations and demos. Special acknowledgement to our Lecturing team who gave excellent talks Catriona Barrett, Orla Murphy and Michael Moore, our Head of School, Declan Hovenden, & our Clinic Manager, Arlene Fox. Special thanks to Marc Davis and Vinicius Silva Russo our Clinical Technicians who as ever kept everything running smoothly. And a huge thanks to John Mc Gann for being a willing volunteer.

This day specialised in information on dry eye and the best ways in treating & preventing it. It was a fun day full of knowledge, thanks to everyone for coming! 🧠👓

Thanks to Grace Campion, Eva O Mahoney and Liam Schokman, 3rd Year Optometry students, for their talk on their trip to India to provide eyecare for the Kolkata street community.

These 3 students who travelled to Kolkata in November are a credit to TU Dublin and are wonderful ambassadors for the Blindness Eradication Programme. The  collaboration between HOPE, Specsavers, and TU Dublin involves life changing work. Our thanks to Lisa Walsh, Specsavers, who spearheads the project, and Sheila Zebedee from Hope for attending on the night. Also thanks to our own Declan Hovenden, Head of Optometry, and Arlene Fox, Clinic Manager, for hosting the evening.

The speakers were passionate, enthusiastic, and articulate and wholeheartedly encouraged 2nd Year students to get involved with this year’s trip.
Applications for both TU Dublin Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing students are now open. Apply for your opportunity to get involved in this incredible work.

Celebrating Dr. Veronica O'Dwyer PhD. We're very sorry to see this phenomenal lady leave TUDublin and are very grateful for all Veronica contributed to the National Optometry Centre, both in Grangegorman and in our previous home at DIT Kevin Street. Optometry in Ireland owes a huge debt to this legend. Best of luck for your future Veronica.
