Our latest annual report reveals a concerning trend of young women and men who are viewing co***ne as a way to get a buzz without the calories of alcohol, believing it won't derail their fitness goals or weight-loss journeys.

This dangerous misconception reflects our society's obsession with appearance and body image, amplified by social media pressures.

The reality is that co***ne is an extremely dangerous substance with severe health and addiction risks.

If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use, we are here to help. Please call us on 01 494 6358

Last week, our Head of Clinical Services, Emma Kavanagh, appeared on Newstalk to discuss a concerning trend in substance accessibility.

The digital age has transformed how drugs are accessed. Apps are being exploited for illegal substance distribution, while new platforms have emerged specifically for this purpose.

Tech-savvy users can now order drugs as easily as ordering food delivery.

Emma highlighted that lowered barriers to access are contributing to the rise of co***ne consumption and the sanitized experience removes the stigma and perceived risk of traditional drug purchasing, normalising what remains a dangerous behaviour.

This instant-access culture poses new challenges for prevention and intervention. Understanding these evolving trends is crucial as we support individuals and families affected by addiction.

Our 2024 annual report reveals that women are one of the fastest-growing groups seeking treatment for co***ne addiction in Ireland. This represents a positive shift, as women have historically faced greater barriers to accessing treatment due to stigma and care responsibilities.

With co***ne use rising dramatically from 17% to 23% of our cases - a 40% surge - targeted intervention is more critical than ever. While challenges remain around childcare and societal stigma, seeing more women courageously step forward for help shows progress in breaking down these barriers.

Recovery is possible for everyone. 💪

On Sunday at our Medallion Ceremony, Michael Woods from Co Dublin received recognition for an extraordinary milestone of 33 years free from addiction.

After leaving school at 12, following personal tragedies, 14 years of addiction left his life "in ruin" with broken relationships and constant career changes.

When Michael first entered our doors, he was filled with self-doubt but desperate for help. He never imagined where his journey would lead.

Today, Michael is a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor at The Rutland Centre - helping others in the same space where he once found his own healing.

If you are someone you love is struggling with addiction, we are here to support you. Please call us on 24h: 01 494 6358
