As the days slowly start to stretch out, spring can bring a gentle change in pace. 🌱

For young people in foster care, this time of year can be about settling into routines, finding a bit of ease in everyday moments, and feeling steady at home.

It doesn’t need to be anything big. Consistency, care, and time together are what matter most.

💙 World Autism Awareness Day – April 2nd 💙

Today, we celebrate neurodiversity and stand with all children, young people and families across Ireland with ASD.

At Orchard Fostering, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported in the way that suits them best. Whether it’s through understanding, patience, or simply listening, small acts of kindness go a long way.

To our foster carers supporting young people with autism: thank you for creating safe, inclusive spaces where they can thrive. 💜

Let’s continue to build a world that welcomes every child, just as they are.

When children begin to feel safe, it’s often the small things they notice first. 💜

Someone waiting at the door.
Knowing where their things belong.
Being asked how their day was and knowing the answer matters.

Safety lives in everyday moments.

Our Book of the Month is: The A-Z of Therapeutic Parenting by Sarah Naish, where she breaks down everyday situations with clarity and care, focusing on understanding behaviour rather than fixing it. It’s practical without being overwhelming and easy to dip into when needed.

Perfect for those small moments of reflection. 💛

A huge well done to our incredible Foster Carers, Grace and Gordon, who took to the airwaves this morning with Kathryn Thomas on Dublin's Q102🎙️

Our foster carers did an amazing job sharing their personal experiences, offering a genuine insight into the life-changing impact fostering can have — not only for children, but for the whole family. Their honesty, warmth, and passion truly shone through.

We are so proud to have such dedicated and inspiring carers as part of Orchard Fostering. Opportunities like this help raise vital awareness about fostering and highlight the ongoing need for more carers across Ireland. 💛

Thank you to Kathryn Thomas and the team at Q102 for giving us the platform to share these important stories.

For some children, life can feel unsettled for a long time.
Routines change, plans shift, and it can be hard to know what comes next.

Fostering offers steadiness.
The same faces.
A place that feels familiar.
Someone who shows up, day after day.

It’s not about having everything figured out. It’s about being present.

If fostering is something you’ve ever wondered about, we’re always happy to have a chat.

Our story

Established in 2008, we are the largest Irish-owned independent foster care agency. More than a decade later, we have close to a hundred wonderful foster carer families that provide excellent care for their foster children. Our mission is our dedication and genuine passion for child welfare and supporting carers. We pride ourselves on knowing our carers and recognising the contribution they make towards a lasting difference in the lives of the children in their care. We have a multi-disciplinary team of over 30 staff. Fully qualified and locally-based, our social work, social care and therapy teams are available to support our carers and to ultimately to achieve the best outcomes for the foster children in their care. Importantly our dedicated and experienced staff are available through our out of hours call service, giving our carers the peace of mind that they can access support at any time should the need arise. We’ve been building brighter futures for children and young people for over a decade.
