πŸŽ‰ One Year of Our 2025–2030 Strategy: A Year in Review

Last Thursday Jan 15, Beaumont Hospital marked the first anniversary of our 2025–2030 Strategic Plan with a Year in Review event, joined by colleagues, partners, patient representatives and HSE CEO Bernard Gloster (HSE Ireland) who kindly gave the key note address.

The event celebrated strong progress in 2025 β€” from enhanced clinical and corporate governance and expanded leadership structures, to major infrastructure and digital milestones including the Hybrid Theatre, Chestnut Wards, Radiology Day Ward redevelopment, and continued progress on Project Coral and BHIS replacement.

Patient partners were central to the day, reinforcing our commitment to patient-centred care, while showcases across digital transformation, research, pharmacy, robotic surgery and regional partnerships highlighted the momentum already underway.

As we look to 2026, our focus turns to embedding new structures, improving access and patient flow, advancing digital and infrastructure modernisation, and continuing to strengthen research, partnerships and culture.

πŸ‘ Thank you to all our speakers, staff, partners and patient contributors driving this important work forward.

Annual European Health and Safety Week took place in Beaumont Hospital the week of Nov 17 to 21st. This year's theme focused on Display Screen Equipment (DSE), and the response was fantastic!

Our Wednesday promotional campaign was a real highlight, drawing great interest and engagement. We had over 340 interactions at the stand, where staff took part in discussions, shared feedback, and learned more about safe DSE practices. The quiz was a big hit too.

The week also featured other important staff safety initiatives led by our Security Department and Health Promotion Department, including Hospital Watch and a Staff Health Screening Day, both of which were well received and supported by many of you.

Thanks to colleagues for your enthusiasm and commitment to making our workplace safer and healthier.

A decade of care – Beaumont marks 10 years of F**T (Frailty Intervention Therapy Team) improving outcomes for older adults

Beaumont Hospital F**T Team recently marked the 10th anniversary of its Frailty Intervention Therapy Team (F**T), a decade of pioneering, person-centred care for older adults in our community living with frailty.

Established in 2015, F**T was created to provide early assessment and intervention for frail and older patients presenting to the Emergency Department and aims to ensure older people access the right services and appropriate care pathways.

Over the past decade, the team has transformed how Beaumont supports older patients, helping them maintain independence, avoid unnecessary hospital admissions, and return home safely whenever possible. F**T has been running in Beaumont Hospital Emergency Department (ED) since 21st of September, 2015.

The multidisciplinary team includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, medical social workers, Speech and language Therapists, Dieticians, Advanced nurse specialists, and geriatricians, all working collaboratively to deliver holistic, evidence-based care.

Since its inception, F**T has had a 37% increase in patients referred to their service (2020 versus 2024 ) and supported thousands of patients in the Emergency Department and Acute Medical Assessment Unit, significantly reducing admissions and improving functional outcomes. The service has also influenced frailty care models across Ireland, serving as a blueprint for similar initiatives nationwide.

The success of F**T is a testament to the dedication and collaboration of the entire multidisciplinary team. Ten years on, their work continues to make a real difference in the lives of our most vulnerable patients.

As Beaumont Hospital reflects on this milestone, the F**T team remains committed to continuing its mission β€” innovating, educating, and delivering compassionate care for older adults well into the next decade.
