Best of luck to everyone getting results tomorrow and receiving offers this week. No matter what the results are, you have done very well in this time of unknown, fear, and loss. Do take time to pause, to reflect, and indeed celebrate.

If you feel upset, low, or anxious, know that these can be appropriate feelings if we don't get what we wanted right now. Do remember that this is a momentary snap shot of the here and now. This might be the best time for a new or temporary adventure. If you feel too overwhelmed, please do talk to someone, and try not to over indulge in drinking/drugs. There are a ton of professionals and resources out there to support you, even if this is brief.

If you feel unsafe or that you might do something harmful, do contact your family or GP or nearby hospital. Samaritans and Pieta house are great resources. If you wish to talk to someone like me or my fellow psychologists, you can book an appointment at a reduced rate here:

I was jogging about Phoenix park and noticed this. Anyone know what statue this is? I often wonder how many different ways people can see the world around them, including how we view ourselves and loved ones. Check if your mind is making certain assumptions that don't quite help.

What a great article by , head of the IACP. Loving the forward thinking and thinking ahead. There are many things that we will see change going forward. In the meantime, the Private Practice SIG of the PSI has sent out our own update.

Lisa Molloy, head of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, says the Government must not drop the ball on mental health.

There is a beautiful "snow" of dandelion floating about the place. Depending on your mind-set you could also say it's like something out of Stranger things! I write it as "mind-set" as there are times when our mind seems set in its way. This is called rigid thinking. Check if there is anything that your mind might be telling you right now that is rigid. The likelihood is that its not helpful for you.

This can be anything from your mind stating that "you don't have the time to do exercise", or that your "partner is always wrong and you're always right", or that "you're not good enough". Keep an eye on these rigid statements, and maybe let them float on by, just like these dandelions!

"My depression caused me to let my house go to hell. Yesterday I finally cleaned it up"

Really proud of this guy! All too often with anxiety and low mood, we leave things slide. And that's okay! This is part of the effect of these moods. However, doing one bit at a time or looking after one area has the potential to motivate us for further activities- even if it's not cleaning.

See if there is one small thing you can do tonight/tomorrow that can set you on this course. e.g. straighten the bed covers/make the bed, wash a cup, hoover the floor. You decide.

I often talk to clients about moving towards what's meaningful. Meaningful experiences often include at least some level of discomfort e.g. education, minding your mental health, fitness.

Sometimes it feels like where we want to be is taking forever, whether that's improving your mental health, fitness, relationships, or anything else that's meaningful. This also includes the wait for this pandemic to dissolve. It's important to not lose hope, as those diamonds/key moments of change could be right around the corner.

'Restaurants on the edge' have some great one-liners, including the one posted here. It has a focus on connection, community, and resilience.
