CranioSacral Therapy is another tool to encourage physical, emotional and spiritual health through alignment the cranium and the sacrum. The brain is connected to the sacrum by the spinal cord, which creates the central nervous system. Cerebral spinal fluid is produced within the CranioSacral system and maintains the physiological environment in which your brain and nervous system develop and function. Just as the ocean has a tidal flow, so does the cerebral spinal fluid within the spinal column.

The goal of CranioSacral Therapy treatment is to listen to this “tidal flow” and gently encourage the body to open up blockages, which cause pain, emotional conditions and diminished health.

Often issues within the lower pelvis are related to compressions, or reduced flow, in the skull and visa versa. A classic example would be of someone suffering chronic headaches and migraines after a car accident or from the “slow whiplash” of working at a desk and leaning forward for many years at work. Often there is a subtle pressure of the nerves from posture that may not show up in a MRI. This in turn can affect the flow of blood, Qi and cerebral spinal fluid at the sacrum resulting in decreased function.

Also known as Champissage, I massage the head, neck and face are, with the purpose of manipulating energy channels. My goal is to clear blocks in these energy channels that cause a build-up of negative energy that are purported to cause ailments. When the energy does not flow properly, negative energy builds up, causing common ailments, including stress, pains and aches, and baldness or hair loss.

Indian Head Massage is based on an ancient Ayurvedic healing system practised in India for over 1 000 years. It is a wonderfully relaxing therapy that involves massage of the soft tissues in the upper back shoulders arms neck scalp and face. I use a range of different massage pressures and rhythms to stimulate these areas and help balance natural energies and clear any localised areas of negativity.

Indian Head Massage is not just physical; it works on an emotional level also calming the spirit promoting relaxation and relieving stress. A typical massage can last up to 45 minutes.

Deep-tissue massage is a specific type of massage therapy that concentrates on the deep layers of muscle and fascia in the body; and recommended by many doctors as a treatment option.

By using deep finger pressure and slow, firm strokes, deep tissue massage is used to treat a variety of physical ailments. It can be done manually or with mechanical aids.

Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, or organs of the gastrointestinal system.

Some of the strokes are the same as those used in classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearm, and feet.

What is today called “Thai massage” or “Thai yoga massage” is an ancient healing system combining acupressure, Indian Ayurvedic principles, and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is more energizing and rigorous than more classic forms of massage.

Thai massage is also called Thai yoga massage, because I use my hands, knees, legs, and feet to move you into a series of yoga-like stretches.

The underlying theory behind reflexology is that there are “reflex” areas on the feet and hands that correspond to specific organs, glands, and other parts of the body.
For example:

the tips of the toes reflect the head
the heart and chest are around the ball of the foot
the liver, pancreas and kidney are in the arch of the foot
low back and intestines are towards the heel
