EUPATI is a patient-led, non-profit organisation providing high-quality education and training to patients, patient representatives, researchers, and other healthcare stakeholders. Working within a multi-stakeholder framework, EUPATI is committed to strengthening meaningful patient involvement in medicines research, development, and healthcare decision-making.

During this session, EUPATI will:

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Laura Brady, PhD, as our new Chief Executive Officer, effective 16 June 2025.

Laura brings over a decade of leadership experience across health innovation, patient advocacy, and academic research. Prior to joining IPPOSI, she was the Digital Health Innovation Lead at the FutureNeuro Research Centre for Translational Brain Science, where she successfully implemented a data and digital health strategy aimed at improving outcomes for individuals living with neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions.

Previous to this role, Laura was the Head of Research at Fighting Blindness, where she spearheaded the organisation’s research strategy. She notably expanded the Target 5000 national patient registry, enhanced public and patient involvement in research, and generated evidence-based data that contributed to the reimbursement of Ireland’s first-ever gene therapy for a rare retinal disease.

In addition to her professional achievements, Laura currently serves on the Board of Health Research Charities Ireland (HRCI) and is a member of the National Genetics & Genomics Office (NGGO) PPI & Communications Working Group. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry from Trinity College Dublin and a Professional Diploma in Leading Digital Health Transformation from RCSI University of Medicine & Health Sciences.

Laura is passionate about harnessing data, amplifying the patient voice, and fostering cross-sector collaboration to drive progress and unlock new opportunities in patient-centered healthcare innovation. We look forward to the impactful leadership Laura will bring to IPPOSI, and we are excited to continue our mission to advocate for patients and enhance healthcare outcomes in Ireland.

The Centre in Ireland for Clinical guideline support and Evidence Reviews (CICER) in the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) is working on a project to build awareness on how clinical guidelines are developed in Ireland. The project aims to build learning resources tailored specifically to patients and the public.

They are putting together a small panel of 5-6 patients and members of the public to help build these resources. The details about the project and panel can be found below.

We were delighted to meet with the class of IPPOSI's 2025 Patient Education Programme yesterday. It was a great opportunity to get to know the wonderful group of patients, patient representatives, advocates and carers who will spend the next 11 months exploring the research and development process for new medicines, medical devices, and health technologies.

We wish them the best of luck on their journey and will be here to support them every step of the way.

The 2025 patient education programme is supported by:
Health Research Board (HRB), EUPATI, Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA), NCPE - National Centre for Pharmacoeconomics and delivered with our education and PPI partners.
