Kelley Daly | Director of Nursing, Rathbourne Nursing Home, Dublin 15

A Registered General Nurse and qualified Public Health Nurse, Kelley leads with person-centred practice, fostering a strong, inclusive team culture through monthly meetings with residents and committee members. One nominator shares: "She is truly the best boss I've ever had," whilst families praise her deep understanding of dementia care that brings comfort and confidence through hands-on leadership.

Mamie Dunne | Administrator, Oakdale Nursing Home, Co Laois

Mamie is the heartbeat of Oakdale's administration, bringing exceptional organisational excellence and genuine compassion shaped by personal experience of nursing home care. Her eye for design has transformed Oakdale, with nominators noting "she has the eye to turn this building into a home away from home" and "everyone can rely on Mamie" for compassion and answers during both joyful and difficult times.

Ash*tha Sebastian | CNM, Signacare Bunclody, Co Wexford

With over eight years in gerontological, paediatric and neonatal care, Ash*tha serves as Assistant Director of Nursing, treating each resident with dignity as "individuals, not just patients." Her joyful personality and unwavering staff support creates "a culture of respect, teamwork and excellence" that inspires others "to lead with kindness, passion and heart."

Rebecca Brady | Administrator, Ashford House Nursing Home, Co Dublin Rebecca's career began in 1990 supporting people with AIDS in a London hospice. Now as receptionist at Ashford House, her natural "gift of the gab" creates such comfort that "many residents now queue at the reception area simply to sit and have a chat with her," whilst her professionalism brings reassurance that families regularly acknowledge in grateful emails.

Margaret McCabe | Supervisor Healthcare Assistant, Mullinahinch House, Co Monaghan

Since 2018, Margaret has uniquely served as both HCA Supervisor and hairdresser whilst completing her QQI Level 6 in healthcare. Staff share "Margaret is like a mother to many of us" and celebrate how "she gives her heart and soul to the home," using gentle words, singing and dancing to connect with residents and "transform the environment for the better every single day."

Jaylei Castillon | Staff Nurse (Night), Foxrock Nursing Home, Dublin 18

Jaylei's empathy and professionalism leave lasting impacts on families. A family member shares: "She looked after my Mom as if she was her own and went above her duties" to ensure comfort and dignity during final months. Her genuine compassion, particularly during end-of-life care, treating every resident with the greatest respect and kindness, makes her "a credit to her vocation."

Sibi J***y | Director of Nursing, Adare and District Memory Care Centre, Co Limerick

Since moving to Ireland in 2010, Sibi has progressed from Staff Nurse to Director of Nursing through dedication and continuous learning. One nominator shares that "he not only manages care but transforms lives," exemplified by his compassionate facilitation of a resident's home visit that brought remarkable joy and renewed engagement through evidence-based practices and age-friendly approaches.

Susan McCullen | Director of Nursing, Sunhill Nursing Home, Co Louth

With 20 years at Sunhill since its opening in 2005, Susan "leads by example, creating a culture where staff feel supported, valued and motivated." She's established innovative initiatives including a Dementia Cafรฉ and End of Life Bereavement Support Pack, earning the DAISY Nurse Leader Award in 2024 for her profound impact on person-centred care.

Shauna Morrissey | Nurse, Killure Bridge Nursing Home, Waterford

Since 2020, Shauna has specialised in palliative and end-of-life care, recently completing a Postgraduate Certificate in Gerontology at UCC. As a CARU team member, she drives excellence in care whilst advocating for residents and mentoring students. Her manager notes she is an "excellent nurse who makes my job easier when she is on duty."

Gillian O'Shea | Activity Co-ordinator, Amberley Home and Retirement Cottages, Co Cork

After re-entering education at 38, Gillian has transformed activities at Amberley since 2015. She introduced virtual reality headsets allowing residents to "explore home towns, famous landmarks" or "simply sit in the sand on a beach in Australia." Her popular book club led Cork County Library to choose Amberley for their book launch, "much to the absolute delight of the residents."

Nora O'Sullivan | Volunteer, Sonas Ashborough Nursing Home, Co Kerry

A retired post mistress after 33 years with An Post, Nora has volunteered since 2022 bringing warmth and compassion. She sources thoughtful gifts and provides comforting presence to those without family, especially during times of grief. "It's not just about what she does, it's about how she makes others feel," particularly in "ensuring they are not alone."

Eileen Bergin | Senior Healthcare Assistant, Archersrath Nursing Home, Kilkenny

Eileen treats each resident as family whilst taking great pride in training new staff with patience and thoroughness. Her Director of Nursing shares: "I always feel at ease when she is scheduled to work, as I have complete confidence in her skills, judgment and dedication," maintaining a calm demeanour that makes her "a stabilising presence on the team."

Sherin George | Clinical Nurse Manager, Haven Bay Care Centre, Co Cork
Sherin leads with empathy and courage. During staffing challenges, she stepped up to fill shifts herself while coaching her team and ensuring residents received compassionate care. She's introduced personalized care plans that consider residents' emotional wellbeing, not just physical needs. "Their calm, steady presence creates stability and reminds everyone why this work matters."

Raphael Tablason | Domestic Supervisor, Foxrock Nursing Home, Dublin 18
Known as Raffy, he's been a cornerstone of Foxrock for many years. Beyond his role, he assists across departments from kitchen to maintenance without hesitation. His singing and cheerful personality bring joy to residents who "look forward to seeing him, knowing he will listen, engage and share a smile," helping to "make Foxrock a warmer, happier and more inclusive environment."

Stephy Sebastian | Clinical Nurse Manager 2, Ballincollig Community Nursing Unit, Co Cork
A 2018 nursing graduate from Kerala, Stephy moved to Ireland in 2021 and quickly progressed to CNM2 by 2023. She leads implementation of the age-friendly health system and comprehensive training programmes. Nominators celebrate her ability to "lead by example, demonstrating clinical excellence and compassionate care" whilst being "a constant source of support and mentorship."

Zineb Lemzouri | Healthcare Assistant, Skibbereen Residential Care Centre, Co Cork
Originally from Morocco, Zineb joined Skibbereen in 2022 after completing her QQI Level 5 course. Within six months, she was promoted to mentor new staff. Her gentle care during "glam time-manicure" sessions and "positive energy even in difficult times" make her "a positive influencer" whose work ethic inspires the entire team.

Sonia Rivas Sanchez | Clinical Nurse Manager, Marian House Nursing Home, Dublin
Sonia's journey from Spain in 2017 shows remarkable resilience. Starting as a Healthcare Assistant despite language challenges, she progressed to Clinical Nurse Manager in seven years. Staff and residents celebrate that she "lights up the house" and "nothing is too much trouble for her."

Margerete Moreto | Healthcare Coordinator, Haven Bay Care Centre, Co Cork
Margerete's inspiring journey from housekeeping to Healthcare Coordinator demonstrates remarkable growth. She's completed programmes like CARU whilst becoming "calm in every storm" and "a steady presence who listens, supports and leads with calm assurance."

John Doody | Senior Healthcare Assistant, SignaCare New Ross, Co Wexford
In 18 years at SignaCare, John has become the ultimate "jack of all trades" - providing care, tending the garden, changing light bulbs. He is "more than a healthcare assistant, he is a friend, a source of comfort" who "makes our centre a community built on compassion and respect."

Meet the first four incredible people who put heart and soul into caring for older people every day.

Sinead Meegan | Activities Coordinator, Oakfield Nursing Home, Wexford
From alpaca visits to intergenerational programmes with preschool children, Sinead creates unforgettable moments for residents. She recently organised a marquee celebration for the home's 20th anniversary with entertainment and a barbecue for residents, staff and families. "Her spirit is everywhere in Oakfield."

Maryte Useckiene | Activities Coordinator, Elm Green Nursing Home, Dublin
At 69, Maryte arrives early each day to support residents who need extra help at mealtimes. In her 17 years at Elm Green, she's transformed the gardens into therapeutic havens with tea parties, bird watching mornings and planting days with local schools. "Her dedication and innovative spirit make her truly exceptional."

Tolulope Omonijo | Activities Manager, The Four Ferns, Dublin
Tolu's infectious energy led her from Healthcare Assistant to Activities Manager, where she expanded the programme from 172.5 to 220 hours weekly and organised a Carnival BBQ with 400 attendees. "An incredible passionate leader who is amazing with residents."

Breege Lyons | Laundry Assistant, Esker Lodge Nursing Home, Cavan
In 21 years at Esker Lodge, Breege's kindness reaches far beyond the laundry. She supports residents during end-of-life care, assists with pastoral visits, and encourages residents to dance and share laughter. As one resident said: "She treats us like family. We trust her completely."

Weโ€™re delighted to highlight the celebration of Jimmy Lynamโ€™s 100th birthday at CareChoice Ballynoe, one of our valued Member nursing homes.

Surrounded by family, friends and the Glen Rovers Male Boys Choir, this All-Ireland winner marked his remarkable milestone in true style, with balloons in the Glen colours and hope in his heart for next seasonโ€™s championships.

โ€œI am delighted to be celebrating my 100th birthday with my beautiful family, friends and the great people of my club Glen Rovers,โ€ said Jimmy.

A huge thank you to the wonderful staff at CareChoice Ballynoe for helping make this special day so memorable, and to Jimmyโ€™s children Kieran and Mary for their unwavering love and support.
