I had a chance to dive into the new book by Dr Gemma Newman over the holidays, so wanted to give it a shout out.
I haven’t had much time to read lately as I had my own book deadline as well as some other deliverables, so I was looking forward to getting into a few books over Christmas.
This one was a great choice. Dr Gemma Newman is a GP, but she’s also studied nutrition, psychotherapy, and a number of holistic practices, including Reiki. And I know from experience that she’s also a really kind person.
The book rolls all of her experience into one and gives us advice on how to live a healthy life. 🌱
She focuses on 6 healthy habits (gratitude, love, being outside, vegetables, exercise, and sleep) and shares the science of why these things matter, which ticked all my boxes 🙂, and how they benefit our health.
The longest chapter, and probably my favourite, is Vegetables. Well, Gemma isn’t “Plant Power Doctor” for nothing. 😂 And it didn’t disappoint. There’s a whole low down of which foods are good for us, which minerals we most need and which foods we get them from. There’s even some quick and easy plant based recipes.
And all the science references are at the back of the book, for those of you (like me) who like to check out things for yourself.
I love that there’s even a Get Well, Stay Well Plan, which is ideal for those of us who tend to write goals and intentions in the new year.
If you find yourself drawn to the book, happy reading.😊
