The PSI recently made a submission to the HIQA Draft National Guidance for the Responsible and Safe Use of Artificial Intelligence in Health and Social Care Services.

"The PSI welcomes the development of national guidance for the responsible and safe use of AI in health and social care services. The Draft National Guidance provides a strong foundation, particularly in its emphasis on human oversight, governance, and safety. However, the PSI recommends additional focus on psychological, ethical, and societal considerations. ... AI has the potential to enhance service efficiency, administrative processes, and certain diagnostic applications. However, it is a tool to support the people who deliver care, not a replacement for relational, professional, and adequately funded human services."

What a fantastic day at the All-Ireland Psychology Careers Event!

Students from across Ireland joined us to hear from psychologists working across a wide range of specialties and to explore the many career pathways within psychology.

This afternoon’s sessions included a panel on Careers with Psychology, featuring speakers from HIQA, An Garda Síochána, and the Esri Ireland’s Behavioural Research Unit, followed by a panel discussion on careers in clinical psychology, health psychology, and sport psychology.

A huge thank you to all our speakers, exhibitors, and attendees for making today such an engaging and inspiring event. Also to the PSI staff team and volunteers who helped everything run smoothly.

We hope everyone left with new insights, connections, and inspiration for their future careers in psychology.
