C.G. Jung Centre

C.G. Jung Centre The C.G. Jung Centre has run Lectures, Workshops and Courses since 1989

The Jung Society of Ireland was founded to promote an understanding of Jungian philosophy and psychology. The society's function is education, being dedicated to the exploration of Jungian ideas, the application of Jungian theory and the encouragement of study in the fields of analytical psychology, mythology, literature, art, science, religion and philosophy. Since its foundation in 1990, the Jung Centre is pleased to have graduated between ten and fifteen students each year. The students have come from a wide variety of backgrounds – nurses, doctors, religious orders, media workers, teachers, social workers, mothers, housewives, business executives, engineers, academics, solicitors etc. And all of them have been exceptional individuals with the courage and ability to question collective assumptions and contribute greatly to society by forging new values for their time. Of course, as Jung emphasised, this crucial work can only be accomplished through personal transformation and the willingness to own our complexes, projections and shadow aspects. Jung pioneered an in-depth system of dream interpretation which enables us to access the hidden depths of the unconscious and its treasures.

Diploma in Jungian Psychology
starts August 11th

We are very pleased to announce that we'll be running our Diploma in Jungian Psychology online course from August 11th to October 13th. The course is held across 10 Sundays 12pm-5pm (Ireland / UK time).

*The Diploma course now has Helen Reddin and Damian Amaya giving some wonderful new exciting classes including:

Helen's classes - Definitions, The Transcendent Function, Alchemy, The Red Book, The Major Arcana

Damian's classes - Dreams, Personality Types, Complexes

The course lays the foundations for an understanding of human psychology and an exploration of the structure of the psyche as discovered and developed by C.G. Jung.

First run in 1990, the Diploma Course covers all of Jung’s core teachings:

- The Interpretation of Dreams
- Personality Types
- The Shadow
- Complexes
- Alchemy
- Archetypes
- Symbols
- The Transcendent Function
- Individuation
- The Great Mother
- The Self

Studying Jungian psychology will open up a whole field of fresh ideas and thought. The first step to finding meaning in life is to know oneself. This can be achieved by exploring the unconscious, and confronting complexes to discover the potential that lies hidden and obscured by ego-defences. This will activate the archetype of the Self which Jung described as the central ordering principle in the psyche, providing us with a newfound sense of meaning and purpose.

Obstacles and hindrances which once seemed intimidating now become challenges that propel us into future growth. This growth initiates a paradigm shift in consciousness which empowers the individual to step into a wider reality.

The course will also provide an in-depth study of the process of Individuation. This was the term used by Jung for the achievement of wholeness through self-knowledge and included the identification of personal complexes and projections, the ability to question consensus reality and its blind spots so that we can discover our proper place in the world and in Nature.

All classes will be video recorded and available to the students (the course can also be studied in this way via modules if preferred).
CPD points will also be awarded.

• Beginner's Tarot Course Early Bird
Dear Jungians,

We're very excited to be running our new diploma course in Jungian Theory and Practice. The course will be run across 5 Sundays October 15th to November 12th online from 12pm-4pm (Ireland / UK time). We already have quite a strong group registered for the course consisting of very enthusiastic Jungians, many who have attended our workshops and courses.
Video recordings of the course and CPD points will be given to the students.

Course Summary:

'One's anxiety always points out one's task,' Jung writes. 'If you escape it you have lost a piece of yourself, and a most problematic piece at that, with which the Creator of things was going to experiment in His unforeseeable ways.'

Jung did not pathologize the psyche. He knew that its compulsions, obsessive fantasies, and the 'forbidden spaces of our perversions' were the parts where the numinous bits of the true self were also to be found. By understanding the illusion of control behind anorexia, the desperation for the glue of psychic structure behind drug addiction, the expression of psychotic aspects through somatic delusions, and the protective function of autistic and schizoid defences, we can begin to integrate those split-off paths that constitute our earliest wounds and begin to knit the psyche into a unified whole.

Topics Covered:

• Anorexia
• Somatic Delusions
• Drug Addictions
• Search for the Real Self
• Body Image
• Autistic, Schizoid and Manic Defences
• Trauma
• The Father

A Jungian Approach to Tarot Divination - Beginner's Online Course

We're absolutely thrilled to have Helen Reddin's online beginner's course on The Tarot & Jung run again across 6 Tuesday evenings from April 9th to May 14th 2024, 7pm-9pm (Ireland / UK time).

We have already have great interest in the course with many people registered with the Early Bird fee of €140. This discount is for the first half of places available and then the standard course fees will be €210.
Due to the amount of bookings already made without officially announcing the course, we highly recommend booking soon.

Helen has an unparalleled understanding of the meaning and significance of the Tarot. Her mastery of its symbolism and relevance to the individuation process gives her work a depth and breadth which is thrilling, while her presentation sings with poetry, and inspires and awakens the listener to many dimensions of their soul.

By consulting the Tarot through the lens of Jungian psychology we can come to know ourselves in a deeper, more fundamental way. We meet ourselves in the Tarot. It helps us to harmonise our personal life with the larger Objective Psyche which is the ultimate aim of all oracular processes. We consult the Tarot when our attitude towards Life needs to be reviewed and renewed.

At the end of the course, participants will:

• Have an understanding of the structure of the Tarot deck as a reflection of the structure of the psyche.
• Know how to lay and begin to read 3 different spreads.
• Have a working knowledge of basic Jungian concepts such as archetype, complex, synchronicity, personal unconscious and collective unconscious, the Self, synchronicity.
• Understand how to use the Tarot as a guide to the inner processes.
• Feel more at home in the world of symbol and metaphor.
• Gain an understanding of how to work with the 4 Elements with the support of the Minor Arcana.
• Understand synchronicity and divination as activations of another order of reality.
• Have begun a Tarot journal.

*Individuation Seminar - Final day for Early Discount

I'm very excited to be giving a one-day online seminar on Individuation, taking place on Saturday August 26th from 12pm-5pm (Ireland / UK time).
Early discount registration is €80 or €120 from Sunday!

Engaging with every aspect of our life and times paradoxically shifts the centre of personality from the ego to the Self. This does not mean that we should seek to eliminate the ego, quite the opposite. Only a strong, healthy ego can act in service of the Self, an ego which does not respond with fear, phobias, and defenses to the challenges of fate, but is able to draw upon the strength and fearlessness of the Self and its integral place in the Cosmos.

Individuation is the natural flowering of every life organism, but for homo sapiens it becomes a more complicated affair due to our divided nature and the complex adaptations required by societal and cultural norms.
As usual, the full video recording of the seminar will be included, along with a CPD Certificate of Attendance.
