I am delighted to be on the road again after a pretty sedentary first part of the year. I was yesterday in East Cork and Cork City - i was an Erasmus student there many many years ago so i am always excited to go back 🍀😀
Today i am heading to Bantry and will be between 11:30 and 2. We will hold a little game to ‘TEST YOUR SMELL’ and i will have a lovely gift set for the lucky winner. It’s also a great occasion to simply meet. Smell our new products and have the chat. So if you are in the Bantry area come and meet me. 🤗

The second oil i wanted to cover and a great personL favorite is bergamot 🍊🍋. A hybrid between lemon and bitter orange, 90% of the essential oil production of this magnificent citrus comes from a 150km stretch of coast in Calabria (southern Italy). The oil is for me the most elegant citrus, with sweet and tart lemon facets combined with spicy and floral undertones. It has been a major ingredient in perfumes, from classic Colognes to modern fragrances. It is also famous for being the key flavoring of earl grey teas.

Benefits: this is a feel good oil by excellence. Great at relieving anxiety and a main ingredient in our ‘don’t stress’ blend. You’ll agree that we all need quite a bit of that at the moment 🍋‍🟩
It is also effective to control acne and good for oily skins in general.

How to use: in a diffuser to boost your mood or simply fill the room with a lovely fresh scent. Use also (always diluted) in a body or face oil together with tea tree for instance for treating acne, or as a room freshener. Note that our bergamot oil is ‘bergapten’ free, meaning that its skin sensitizing constituent has been removed.

I wanted to revisit the first products we have launched and in effect the very ‘essence’ of The Nature of Things: our quality pure essential oils.

I will start the series with our Organic Rosemary 🌱 from Tunisia because it is an oil that i love using in blends but it’s also packed with benefits. It has as you’d expect herbal notes of rosemary typical of this aromatic mediterranean plant but also the fresh facets of eucalyptus, due to its high content in eucalyptol. This type (or more precisely chemotype) of rosemary oil is produced primarily in Morocco and Tunisia.

Benefits: it is known for boosting energy and focus and is one of the main ingredients in our ‘Wake Up’ blend and roll on. A key natural in classic Colognes, Rosemary is also a powerful antioxidant and antiviral. Its huge boost in popularity in recent times is due to scientific studies showing its effectiveness as a stimulant for the growth of hair follicles, alongside cedar oil.

How to use: use in a diffuser, in a room spray or perfume and diluted in a carrier oil to create your own scalp oil.

For those of you who don’t know us, hey, my name is Benoit and i am the founder of The Nature of Things. I have worked 20 years in the essential oils and perfume industries before creating this brand that i hope you’ll love.
The Nature of Things is based in Dublin and offers beautifully designed and sustainable wellness products to enjoy at home, at your office or when you are on the go. Our range of products include stylish diffusers, quality essential oils and blends, body oils, pulse point roll ons and a collection of gifts sets. Sustainability is important to us. Maintaining, protecting biodiversity is one cause we feel very passionate about. We have a responsibility to protect other living species – plants and animals – and allow nature to thrive in all its diversity and beauty. We need to do this because it is the right thing to do but also for our own sake: future generations will simply depend on this genetic diversity for its food and its health.
As a member of 1% for the planet, we contribute 1% of our revenues to two organisations whose mission is to protect biodiversity. 'Rewilding Europe' is an NGO whose goal is to make Europe a wilder place and 'Hometree' aims at establishing and restoring native woodlands in Ireland.
Earlier this week was world’s bees day, yesterday was international biodiversity day, Earth Day was last April etc. All these days to remind us not to forget Nature in our every day busy lives. But the reality is that we need to act daily to protect our environments: generate less plastic waste, buy more local seasonal products, waste less water and energy at home and also support and participate projects that are aiming to restore healthy biodiverse environments, so we can all continue to enjoy them.
