Today is World Hypertension Day.
High blood pressure - or hypertension - often shows no warning signs, yet it increases the risk for heart disease, stroke, blindness, dementia, and other complications.
A simple blood pressure check can be life-saving.
Getting your blood pressure measured the right way helps ensure accurate results.
Incorrect positions can lead to incorrect readings.
✔ Sit with your back supported
✔ Legs uncrossed and feet flat on the floor
✔ Arm supported with the cuff at heart level
✔ Use correct cuff size
✔ Rest for at least 5 minutes before the reading
✔ Do not talk during or between measurements
✔ Avoid exercise, tea/coffee, and smoking for at least 30 minutes before reading
Small steps can make a big difference in protecting your health.

Everyone at TUHF would like to wish Áine the very best in her new role! Her kindness, professionalism and wisdom have been invaluable throughout the years, leaving a lasting impression on those who have worked alongside her!

Today we celebrated our colleague Áine, who has left TUH after more than 20 years to take up an exciting new role as Regional Director of Nursing for HSE Dublin & South East.

Áine has worked in many roles across TUH, always bringing compassion, professionalism and a deep commitment to patient care. Her passion for education helped grow our community of Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists, and her work with the Patient Community Advisory Council strengthened our connection with the community we care for.

She leaves behind a stronger organisation and colleagues who are grateful for her leadership. We wish her will in her new role.
