I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has joined me for yoga and pilates classes this year. As always, your continued support really does mean the world to me.

As some of you already know, I have to have an operation early January to remove an adrenal gland that has been causing me a bit of bother, so classes will be taking a short break, however I am looking forward to being back on the mat at the end of February. Keep an eye out for class updates closer to the time.

I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and see you in the New Year :)

🏊 Second week of swim lessons at Clontarf Baths 🏊

I’ve been curious about open water swimming for a long time, people talk about how it wakes you up, lifts your mood and leaves you feeling energised, it can also stimulate the vagus nerve, the largest nerve in the body, which helps calm the nervous system and has a whole range of benefits for body and mind. It always sounded amazing, but I’ve never had the nerve to try.

I would be a reasonable swimmer (to my mum and dad’s horror when they sponsored me £1 a length at age 11 and I swam 64 😂), but open water somehow unnerves me.

So when I saw lessons advertised at Clontarf Baths, I thought maybe this was the perfect inbetween step, a sea water pool that’s nice and contained, but with a taste of the open air and cold water.

This morning was a little ummm … chilly, but absolutely beautiful. And afterwards, you do feel lighter, brighter, more alive.

With the darker mornings and evenings creeping in, I’m delighted to have found something that gets me up, out, and into the fresh air on a Saturday morning and who knows, maybe by next summer I might be ready to try swimming in the sea 🤞

Fabulous morning of SUP Pilates on my recent holiday to Mallorca followed by delicious homemade treats on the beach. If anyone ever finds themselves in Port De Pollenca I would highly recommend for an absolutely amazing experience out on the water and so welcoming to SUP newbies like me (and I didn’t end up in the water even once 😂)

Reasons to do Yoga - #1 - Flexibility

Many people feel that they are too inflexible to start yoga, but in many ways that is like saying I am too dirty to have a bath. You don’t need to be flexible to start yoga—that’s exactly why you do it :)

Over time, regular practice gradually improves flexibility, making movement feel easier and more natural.

Here’s why improving flexibility through yoga is beneficial:

✔️ Reduces Aches & Pains – Tight muscles can lead to discomfort and stiffness. Increasing flexibility can help ease tension in areas like the back, shoulders, and hips.

✔️ Prevents Injury – When muscles are tight, they’re more prone to strain. A flexible body moves more freely, lowering the risk of injuries in daily activities or other types of exercise.

✔️ Improves Posture – Modern life often means long hours sitting at desks or looking at screens. Over time, this can cause imbalances in the body. Yoga stretches and strengthens muscles, helping to align the body and support better posture.

✔️ Enhances Mobility & Movement – Flexibility isn’t just about stretching; it also assists with mobility—the ability to move with ease and control. Whether you’re bending down to tie your shoes, reaching for something on a high shelf, or playing with your kids, flexibility makes everyday movements feel easier.

If you would like to give yoga a try, send me a message or give me a call :)

A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Nina and I am a qualified hatha yoga teacher. I am also qualified to teach pregnancy and mum and baby yoga.

I started practicing yoga in 2003. Initially I fell in love with yoga for the strength and flexibility that yoga brings. My reason for starting was therefore fitness. I dipped in and out of yoga for a number of years, however it was in 2010 after a trip to the physio with pain in my hip flexors that I went back to yoga, realizing that my stiff, tight hips would benefit from doing yoga. I found a teacher whose style I loved and was hooked. Over the years my reasons for doing yoga have evolved, it has supported me through pregnancy and helps to keeps me sane with two small children in tow. Whilst I still love the physical side of the practice, it is the total feel good factor that yoga has on my mind and my body that keeps me practicing, the ability that yoga has to improve my mood, make me happy and feel a little more relaxed.

I truly believe that yoga should be for all, keeping our bodies moving and our minds calm is vital to our long term health and happiness and for me yoga is the perfect way to achieve both.

I run weekly classes in Lucan. Keep an eye on my page for the latest class times.
