Case study part 1
Pretty severe case of plantar fasciitis, which is common but not normal.
First, a few pictures that don't tell the whole story but offer some insight into different phases of the healing process.
(a) An image to illustrate different phases at the foot from centred to (One) side of the spectrum. Example moving towards a supinated foot with an inverted heel bone (none of which are bad positions).
(b) Pauls foot in a resting position that was cross-referenced with a detailed assessment that pointed us in direction of the heel bone was stuck on this side of the spectrum (open chain, inverted heel bone and hyper supinated) A big question was what could we do everywhere in the body to modulate this issue.
The assessment showed that the foot was extremely unstable, and it was his right foot with the issue.
(c) An image of a breathing drill that helped restore motion to widen the ribcage while using a certain foot contact. It created an adaption for the whole structure, and the foot got the message. Looks silly, I know, but sometimes things are invisible, and certain senses and movements are outside of our current perception. Unfortunately, what's not invisible is me giving him a belly hug during the setup for emotional support 😂
(D) A picture of a foot drill (where we changed the line of gravity to ankor his foot as an opportunity to improve his capacity to sense the other side of the foot.
The knee tracking in (during mutilpe activities), with a heavy heel, is one big adaption that improved symptoms.
(E) Another picture of an activity (boxing, it could of been many activities) we needed to selcet a complexed activity (real world) and allow the person to express the new capacity and build upon the new adaption created.
The foot issue became very debilitating at one stage he could hardly walk he was hobbling with unbearable pain, constantly seeking passive treatments but no long-term change.
Brief breakdown of the information gathered, watching him move, looking at his strategies and capacity in different physical situations, checking joint ranges, injury background, listening in his words how it affects his day to day life.
