Male factor infertility can impact both the ability to conceive and the risk of miscarriage.

🔹 Infertility: Problems with s***m count, motility, morphology, and/or DNA integrity can reduce the chances of fertilisation and healthy embryo development.

🔹 Miscarriage: Increased s***m DNA fragmentation and certain genetic abnormalities have been linked to higher miscarriage rates, even when fertilisation occurs. Poor s***m quality can affect embryo viability in early pregnancy.

That’s why a comprehensive male assessment not just a basic semen analysis is so important when couples experience difficulty conceiving or recurrent pregnancy loss.

Time and time again, we see success for the couples we support who present to us with a diagnosis of low AMH.

🔹️A couple presented to NeoFertility with a diagnosis of low AMH of 3.2 pmol/l, they had previously experienced one pregnancy loss and been through 4 cycles of IVF, (including 1 donor cycle) which were all unsuccessful.

🔹️Upon investigation with NeoFertility, mild endometriosis, abnormal brown bleeding and suboptimal ovulation was identified.

Having a regular cycle length does not always mean that ovulation is healthy.

At NeoFertility, we will always start by working to identify if there is poor follicle function. Here's how:

🔹️We request that each couple creates a fertility chart alongside a NeoFertility trained fertility advisor.

🔹️We will use your fertility chart to identify the approximate day of ovulation (peak day) in the cycle.

🔹️We will use your fertility chart to time a blood test called a peak + 7.

When we take these steps, not only do we identify follicle function, but we can also use your fertility chart as a diagnostic tool to identify any further health concerns being flagged by your body.

Here is some information on our treatment plan⬇️

Phase 1:
Identifying Causes of Fertility Issues
🔹️Timed blood tests to help us identify hormone and nutrient deficiencies.
🔹️Supplement recommendations.
🔹️Lifestyle changes
🔹️Assessment of the male factor
🔹️Work with a fertility advisor to track your cycle

Phase 2:
Balancing Your Cycle
🔹️If hormone levels are sub-optimal, we normal-stimulate your cycle to achieve a mature follicle.
🔹️Prescription medication to ensure ovulation occurs.
🔹️Monitoring treatment carefully with scans, blood tests, and your fertility chart.
🔹️Surgical referral for laparoscopy or hysteroscopy, if necessary.

Phase 3:
Allowing conception
🔹️At this stage we have ensured your hormone levels are in the optimal range, you have a normal chart and we have proven follicle rupture. At this point, it is normal for conception to take between 1 to 12 cycles.

Pregnancy support:
🔹️Commence progesterone
🔹️Weekly blood tests
🔹️Conduct an early scan
🔹️ Prescribed Hormone support
🔹️Continue to monitor pregnancy

There is a lot more to the puzzle than a positive ovulation (LH) test.

🔹️While it is a positive sign to have a positive ovulation test, it does not confirm ovulation or tell us about the quality of ovulation (if it did occur).

Ovulation tests can be used alongside other biomarkers which are cervical mucus and basal body temperature to give us information on:
🔹️Follicle development
🔹️Approximate day of ovulation
🔹️Corpus luteum formation and function

By using these three biomarkers together, it can help to identify things such as:
🔹️Cycle red flags
🔹️Poor follicle follicle function
🔹️Low progesterone
🔹️and more
